Biography

The early years

Harriet Emily Sheaffer was born in Abington, Illinois on the 11th of Nov 1859[1] to Levi Sheaffer[1] and Mary Best[1] .

In 1870 they were living in Abingdon[2] her father was working as a Blacksmith with about $2,000 in real estate value and $1,000 in personal estate. In the home were Levi 42, Mary 41, Minnie 21, William 19, Lizzie 17, Margaret 16, Hattie 10, John 13, Violette 7.

In 1880[4]

In 1900[5] Hattie confirmed she had 7 children and all were living.

In 1920[13]

Death

She died on the 5th of Feb 1913 in Parma, Canyon, Idaho, Nebraska[1] and would be buried in the Knoll Crest Cemetery in Naper, Boyd County, Nebraska[15]

MRS. JOSEPH ZINK DEAD[16]

Word has just been received by friends in Butte of the death of mrs. Joseph Zink, a former resident of Butte and an early homesteader of Basin precinct. She died suddenly Monday morning, July 16, at Council Idaho, and the remains are being brought to Naper for interment beside her husband who died many years ago. She leaves one daughter Mary of Council, Idaho, and six sons Cecil of Lynch, Holly of Naper, Lowel of Hill City, S.D. harry of Alliance, levi of mellette county, S.D., and Robert of Council, idaho.

Robert and Mary Zink will accompany the remains to Naper.

Mrs. Joseph Zink[17]

PARMA - Mrs. Joseph P. Zink, died at the home of her daughter, Mary, last Monday. Mrs. Zink with her two children, Mary and Robert, moved to Council, Idaho, five years ago last spring, living there three years, one year at Cambridge and two years in Parma, at each place Miss Mary was engaged as a teacher in the schools. She is survived by six boys and one girl: Lowell T. Zink, Hill City, S.Dak.; Royal H. Zink, Naper.; Cicl Zink, Lynch, neb.; levi S. Zink, Norris, S.D.; Robert Zink, Council, Idaho.; Mary V. Zink, Parma, Idaho.

MRS. JOSEPH B. ZINK[18]

Harriet E. Shaffer(sic. Sheaffer) was born in Abington, Illinois, on November 11, 1859 and died at her home in Panna(sic. Parma), Idaho, July 16, 1923, oged(sic. aged) 63 years eight months and five days.

She was married April, 14, 1878 to Joseph B. Zink, at Union Star, Missouri. To this union were born seven children, six sons and one daughter, all of shom survive her. The husband died at the family home in Burke about ten years ago.

Short services were held at the home in Idaho after which the remains were sent to Naper, where interment was made. The services at Naper were hdl Friday afternoon. Rev. W. DeBenham of Spencer officiating. Music was furnished by a double quartette.

Mrs. Zink was a kind and loving mother, a devoted christian and loved by all who knew her. The many floral emblems at the funeral shoed the esteem in which she was held. She was a member of the Baptist church and the rEbecca lodge.
