Biography

Important to note DNA has confirmed William as Royals Sheaffer but no marriage record has ever been found between him and Elizabeth so the children may have been born out of wedlock.

William C Sheaffer was born on the 4th of January, 1851 in Pennsylvania to Levi Sheaffer and Mary Best^[1].

In 1870 they were living in Abingdon^[2] he and his father were working as a Blacksmiths, his father with about $2,000 in real estate value and $1,000 in personal estate. In the home were Levi 42, Mary 41, Minnie 21, William 19, Lizzie 17, Margaret 16, Hattie 10, John 13, Violette 7.

He would take up the career of blacksmithing^[1][2][7]

In 1880 he was living at 221 Mainstreet in Leadville, Colorado^[7] and listed with him is Lizzie - we do not know if this is the mother of Royal and Claire or a different person, as we find their mother on her own 1880 census in Iowa listing him as deceased. Supporting this is the career listed as a blacksmith and profile fitting his brother Charles F Sheaffer and wife Jennie are living in the same rooming house listed next to them on the census.

In 1902 he was living in Union Star Missouri and looking for work: "SITUATION WANTED: Sober, Steady A1 all around blacksmith and shoer. Address W.C. Sheaffer, Union Star. Mo.^[8]

In 1912 he was living in Buchanon, Missouri^[5]

In 1920 we find him in Caddo, Bryan, Oklahoma living with Adelaide on Bufflow Street, showing him as a merchant in a home they rented^[9]

Death

He died of a heart attack on the 11th of Feb 1921 in Wellsville, Kansas^[10][1]

He was buried in the ^[11]
