Biography

I, myself, am a Grandmother of (soon to be) 4. I grew up in Saint Clairsville, Ohio, and my great Grandparents are from European Descent, (late 1800's). When I was growing up,I only knew of 2 uncles and their families, and 3 Grandparents. Somehow I couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing. Ten years ago I started researching my family's background and have broken through many brick walls, yet I still have many more.

On August 28 1976, I married my husband of over 40 years, from East Liverpool, Ohio.

My interest lies in both our genealogies, as that is the combined heritage of our Children and Grandchildren, and we want them to be proud of the many different heritages they have.

I hold a BSED in Education, K-8, in 1982, from the University of Akron. I hold four semesters of Post Graduate studies in Illustration/Design from the Department of Visual Communications Design (VCD), at Kent State University.

About the Family Tree to Which My Children Belong

First and foremost, I am a genealogist whose purpose is to clarify and restore the Family lineage of my husband's and my children, not in any way shape or form am I out to find and publish skeletons in the closet of any ancestor of which I come across. If and when I come across them, I will deal with them as discreetly as possible and I will try not to bring out those skeletons in any public profiles.

Existing surnames for my husband are Jackson, Duncan, Davidson/Davison, Kellogg, Shook, Maple, McCorkhill (from a Norse name meaning "Thor's Cauldron" ), Brown, Niles and Starkey.

Existing surnames for me on Wikitree are Shutek/Cutek/Shudic, Sie/Saj, Pillarz, Mazur/ Masur/ Pawlikowski/Pavlikowski, Watsmonska, Cheshuts, Goletz, Kogut, Buchko, Vavrek, Turcsanik, Hacak, Vaida, and Sirko.

Finally THIS lineage does not feed into any political philosophy - past present or future! Yes I realize most of my children's 10 times great Grandparents will have to get over Being part of a greater world family. And I am proud of each one of my children's ancestral cultures, and strive to create a positive outlook on each and every one!

Let's Break Down Walls Together

My husband's and My Family family trees get ENORMOUS at the Great Grandparent's level (1800's), coming from all over Europe and Colonial America, So I am perfectly sure that many of you are descendants of these families also. In Colonial America, there is Massachussetts, Connecticut, New York OHIO PENNSYLVANIA Virginia ( and W.VA.) In Europe, there is Scotland, England, Norway, Switzerland, Germany, Poland, Austria, Galicia ( Pronounced Guh LITZ ia ) , Slovakia, (Klubina, Zilina, Zavadka and Spiska Nova Ves) and Ruthene pockets throughout Eastern Europe. 23 and Me just told me I have ancestors from Siberia!

Existing surnames for my husband are Jackson, Duncan, Davidson/Davison, Kellogg, Shook, Maple, McCorkhill (from a Norse name meaning "Thor's Cauldron" ), Brown, Niles and Starkey.

Existing surnames for me on Wikitree are Shutek/Cutek/Shudic, Sie/Saj, Pillarz, Mazur/ Masur/ Pawlikowski/Pavlikowski, Watsmonska, Cheshuts, Goletz, Kogut, Buchko, Vavrek, Turcsanik

If one of these names and/or places jump out at you, Please do not hesitate to contact me immediately and get on my trusted list Or even Co-Manage a profile. We are all in this together. When we help each other, we help ourselves, too!

My Direct Lineage Profiles

I have currently just begun to write extensive Biographies for my husband's and my own direct descendants

Open Window

These will have either an "open window" Background

Brick wall

or a "brick wall" Background (meaning there are missing sources and information)

This is me.

Let's face it

Managing a profile of a direct relative can be intricate enough without all the Brothers, Sisters Aunts, Great Aunts, Nieces, and Nephews. Although I have either created them or adopted them, they are not only very difficult to manage in their ever growing quantities, I have them ONLY BECAUSE SOMEONE ELSE HASN'T CLAIMED THEM YET If you find that one of these is also YOUR ancestor, (or relative as well) and you would like to manage or comanage their profile, Let me know and we will do this. All I ask is that I be on your trusted list.

Trellis

Siblings and nephews and nieces will have a trellis background, meaning they will have a basic profile but much less biographical information.

To learn more: visit my Open for Management or Co-Management. This list is being updated daily!!!

Hi Debbie,

I haven’t heard back from you about the break up of the United Kingdom Project. I hope all is well with you. I assume you don’t wish to join any of the country-level projects at present, and will go ahead and remove the United Kingdom badge. If you wish to join England, Scotland, Wales or Ireland in the future, you would be most welcome to do so via the respective G2G sign-up post.

Many thanks for all your contributions,

Susie :-)

Hi Debbie,

We realise the time has come to dissolve the UK Project in favour of the individual country projects of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

We are checking in with all UK badge holders to find out which country project(s) you would like to be in so you can collaborate with other members, have the opportunity to select which team(s) you would like to join, and so we can ensure you have all the correct badges.

Please respond by PM to let us know which country project(s) you would like to be in. Please don’t assume we know. We are effectively starting from scratch to make sure no one falls through the cracks.

Once you have done this, the Coordinator for Membership in the relevant country project(s) will be in touch to help get you situated.

Many thanks,

Susie

Hi Debbie,

I see you haven't been active on Wikitree lately. I hope all is well. I would like to know if you are still participating in Wikitree, because I want to do some Maple merges.

Hi Debbie,

I’m Susie the new leader of the England Project. We are contacting all existing members of the project to find out how you are currently involved, and how you would like to be involved moving forward. Please have a look at the England Project page for more information, and then contact either myself or Gillian to let us know what you’d like to do, or if you have any questions. We can then list your interests, help you join the team in the Google group forum for England, and give you any help you might need to get going. If we don’t hear back from you we’ll assume you no longer want to be a part of the England Project at this time.

Many thanks and I look forward to hearing from you,

Susie :-)

Thanks for that. That leaves the Vollweilers most likely, since Elizabeth Schmidt married Christopher Vollweiler, and one of his daughters married a Rogge in the late 1800s. Those are the only ones I can think of.

Debbie, I completely forgot my grandfather's DNA test. His GedMatch ID is A412966. If you check against my grandfather, that should tell us from which side we're related.

Debbie,

My Bavarian ancestors have the surname Schmidt, unfortunately. I have some Vollweilers from Baden-Württemberg who settled in Hancock County, Ohio. I saw your husband has Scottish ancestry. That could be where the DNA match is from. On my mother's side, I have the Boyce family, who came from the vicinity of Aberdeen, I believe. But, again, unfortunately I haven't been able to connect them to any Scottish immigrant.

Welcome to the 1776 Project (http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:1776), a subproject of the Military and War Project: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Projects#Military_and_War_Project

There are category links to add to your ancestor's profiles and research links to learn more about your family. The Project is a good way to consolidate the WikiTree ancestors with historic connections to the years of 1773 (Boston Tea Party) to 1789 (ratification of the U.S. Constitution.) All patriot, loyalist, Hessians, French, Native Americans or any other profiles with a connection to these years should be linked to an appropriate category in the Project.

If you haven’t already, please set your preferences for your Tags Followed to include 1776 Project and any other tag terms that you wish to follow: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Following

Some categories have a template (SAR) to add at the top of a biography. If not, add a category link by putting the category name such as Template:1776 for those who bore arms in the Revolution. Thank you.
