There were no opening or closing ceremonies, and it was part of the 1900 World's Fair. Women were allowed to compete for the first time in these games.[1] Great Britain sent 95 men and 1 woman. [2]

Cricket

The team representing Great Britain and Ireland was the Devon and Somerset Wanderers. Only 2 teams participated in the competition, in a single match (the other team while nominally representing France was mainly made of British expatriates). The Wanderers were actually awarded silver medals and the "French" team bronze ones.

Rugby

Similar to with other team sports, one existing club team was selected to represent Great Britain and Ireland rather than a team being drawn together from players around the country. In this case it was Moseley Wanderers from Warwickshire. They only played one game, losing to France, but were deemed joint runners up with Germany, who also lost to France.

Water Polo

The British team - technically a mixed team as Lindberg was a Fijian-born New Zealander with Swedish and Irish parents - was represented by Osborne Swimming Club of Manchester, England. There is no official record of exactly which members participated, but one unofficial source considered reliable indicate it was the gentlemen named below, five of whom also entered individual swimming events. They played 3 matches with 3 comprehensive victories.

We now have at least one person from each sport connected! Except cycling, where I only have Lloyd Hildebrand to work with, who married an unnamed Frenchwoman in France, and whose father was born in Berlin. That really just leaves his mother, who has 2 brickwall parents and 2 brickwall siblings.

I challenge you all to break down those walls!
