Jean Mande died along with the other 15 members of the crew in the sinking of the fishing vessel "Georginie" on 7 Sep 1891. He died before his only son Jean Edouard was born 2 months later (11 Nov 1891). Jean Mande's name appears on a monument to the tragic sinking that is located in the cemetery behind the church in Wedgeport.
2 - Personal interview with my uncle George Surette in fall of 2022 . Jean Mande would be his grandfather. George told me about the sinking and where to find the monument.
