Biography

1776 Project
Soldier Joseph Sitton served with Perquimans County Regiment, North Carolina Militia during the American Revolution.

Joseph and his wife, Diannah Beck Sitton, moved to N.C. where several of their children were born.

He served in the Revolutionary War. [1]

The family then lived in South Carolina for some years, where the older children were married. Then all the family group went to Tennessee where they lived seventeen years. In 1811, the Sitton family, children, grandchildren and relatives went to Missouri Territory. Joseph and Diannah Sitton are buried in Bryant's Creek cemetery near Troy, Missouri. In 1965, this cemetery was located on Missouri County Road "E" east of Silex on the way to Elsberry.
