Charles Taliaferro was born in 1797, the son of Reuben Thornton and Mildred Grymes. He married Lucy Burzetta Montague at age 22 in Virginia. They soon moved to Georgia where several of their children were born. They moved again between 1831-1834 to Tennessee, where Charles remained until his death in Illinois. He worked as a farmer and passed away in 1855 at 57 years old.
It should be noted that the 1830 US Census lists 1 son and 4 daughters, but currently only 3 daughters are known. The 1840 US Census lists 3 sons and 8 daughters, but only 1 son and 6 daughters are shown below for that period.
