Great grandfather Thurber was a soldier in the war of 1812 and 1813 and at the end of war, great grandfather Thurber emigrated with his family to Randolph Co. in the state Indiana about the of 1816. When he entered land on the north bank of the Missisinewa River about 3 1/2 miles, Northeast of old Dearfield in the co. of Randolph in the state of Ind. When he cleaned up his land and built his cabin, later he built a brick house, the first in the co. and where he remained during the rest of his and great grandmother's lives.
