Biography

Simon Trott was born about 1623. His origin is unknown.

Simon made an appearance at Plymouth court on December 19, 1634, so it is assumed that he migrated to New England in 1634 and made his first residence at Plymouth where he was a servant of John Barnes, to serve until he be 23 years of age. On August 13, 1639 he was bound over to service to Thomas Clarke for seven years.

He moved to Cape Porpus, Maine by about 1647 and by July 5, 1653 he was one of twelve men "who acknowledged their submission to the government of Massachusetts Bay and became freemen." He seemed to be an uneducated person for he was not able to sign his name and instead used a mark to sign his documents.

By about 1647 he had married a daughter of Stephen Batson, _____ Batson. His second marriage occurred by about 1656 to Elizabeth _____ (unknown surname.)

Quoted from Great Migration, "On 30 June 1656, the York grand jury "presented Stephen Greenum for keeping disorders in his house at the neck of land & at Winter Harbour & for entertaining James Harmon, Robert Cooke, Mary Clay, and Elizabeth Trott & John Davis, & for flying from authority." On 12 July 1658 it is "ordered that the recorder of this county shall send out warrants to the constable of Scarborrough to apprehend Praecilla Johnson the wife of Mr. Edward Johnson upon vehement suspicion of adulters, as also Elizabeth Trott the wife of Symon Trott for suspicion of the same offence, with all convenient speed, and being apprehended shall send them away to Boston."
