Biography

Baker-53780 She was NOT a Littlepage. This comes from a long ago but new researcher who saw a deed for land between Littlepage & Henry Chiles at the going rate. And presto-bingo, then Margaret the wife of Henry Chiles becomes a Littlepage. Once started - never stopped!!

And - the few records she can be found in - always just Margaret.

And there is NO birth record for her in 1673 as there are no births recorded that early.
The Littlepages are listed as they were born in that time span (C. G. Chamberlayne, The Vestry Book and Register of St. Peter's Parish, New Kent & James City County, Virginia 1682-1758 (revised edition 1972) (Library of Virginia, Richmond, Virginia).

Baker-53780 Orange Co., Virginia was created in 1734 (see the above death for Margaret ( ) Chiles)

Mary was born about 1673 in St. Peter's Parish, New Kent, Virginia. She married John (Henry??) Chiles about 1687. Margaret died on 20 June 1760 and was buried in Orange, Orange, Virginia.[1]

John Thom(p)son acted as executor of her estate in 1770. He may have been the father of Matthew Thompson who married a Chiles descendant.

Mary Margaret (Littlepage) Chiles (1673-1720) who m.1688 Henry Chiles Sr. (1671-1718) did not marry Joseph Morton (1693-1753). She was 20 years older and died in Orange Co. while Joseph was living in Henrico Co. He is being removed as a husband.
Where do you find her marriage to Joseph Morton? I am looking into him and cannot find her as a spouse in his records.

Here is a bio. I found on her: When Mary Margaret Littlepage was born in 1673 in New Kent, Virginia, her father, Captain, was 26, and her mother, Elizabeth, was 23. She married Capt John Henry (Brooks) Chiles, wealthy plantation owner (owned slaves) in 1688 in Hanover, Virginia. They had 18 children in 34 years. She died on June 20, 1720, at the age of 47. Thanks, Kathy
