Biography

Lammert was a son of Isaac Janse Van Alstyne and Jannetje Jochemse Van Valkenburg, baptized 30 April 1710 in the Reformed Dutch Church of Albany, New York.[1][2]

He married Margaritie Van Valkenburg in Albany on 29 October 1733.[3][4]

Lammert and Margaritie had the following children:[5]

  1. Isaac Van Alstyne, baptized 1 September 1734 in the Reformed Dutch Church of Albany, New York.
  2. Jacobus or James Van Alstyne
  3. Jannetje Van Alstyne, christened on 16 May 1739 in Schoharie, Schoharie, New York, USA.
  4. Jochem Lammerts Van Alstyne was christened on 20 Mar 1742 in Schoharie, Schoharie, New York, USA.
  5. Eva Van Alstyne, christened on 22 Mar 1746 in Schoharie, Schoharie, New York, USA.
  6. Harman Van Alstyne, christened on 4 Jun 1749 in Schoharie, Schoharie, New York, USA.
  7. Jannetje Van Alstyne , christened on 30 Aug 1751 in Schoharie, Schoharie, New York, USA.
  8. Margritta Van Alstyne, baptized 18 January 1758 in High & Low DRC, Schoharie, Schoharie County, New York.

Near the end of his life after the American Revolution, as a loyalist, he moved to Ontario.[6]. He passed away in 1792 in Richmond, Lenox, Addington, Ontario, Canada.[7]

Van Alstyne-240 and Van Aalstein-4 appear to represent the same person because: Same name ILambert and Lammert are the same name, and there are several spellings of van Alstyne), same parents, same life dates, same geography, same wife. These need to be merged. Van Aalstein is determined to be the correct LNAB.

Many duplicates (and the resulting nuisance of having to merge duplicates) can be avoided if we search (and look around) WikiTree for the person and family before creating a new profile.
