The early years

Mary J Warford was born about 1846 in Tennessee to Benjamin Warford and Sarah Crook.

The siblings would be:

She would first marry Samson Chapman on the 10th of October 1869 in DeKalb, Tennessee[3] Of note a JW Crook was married above them on the page - likely related

She would later marry Thomas Chumley on the 5th of July 1874 in DeKalb Tennessee[4] and they would have:


Through the years

In 1860 they were in District 11, De Kalb, Tennessee. [1] their nearest post Office was Alexandria. In the home were Benjamin 56, Sarah 37, William 13, Mary 12, Delia 10, Malvina 6, Emily 4, David 1. Sarah Crook was likely a 2nd wife of Benjamin with the age difference.

In 1870 she had moved back in with her parents, [8] she was living in District 11, DeKalb, Tennesee with her family. He had no real estate, but a personal estate of about $1,000. In the home were Benjamin 67, Sarah 46, Delia 19, Malvina 16, Emily 14, Tilman 12, Benjamin 10, Cinthia 7 and a Mary Chapman age 21.

In 1880[5] We find them in District 14, Wilson Tennessee. Listed in the home are Thomas 25, Mary 25, Sarah 9 and Elisabeth 5

In 1910[6] they are renting a home on Green HIll Rd in DeKalb, Tennessee. They confirm that they Thomas and mary have been married for 39 years which matches close to the 36 on the marriage license date. In the home are Thomas 60, Mary J 67, Nannie 22 and Willie 18

In 1920[7] they have moved to allensville, Todd, Kentucky and are renting a farm. In the home are Tom Chumley 80, Mary J 79, Will 36, Daughter in law Della 21, Nannie (now with last name Vickers) 39 and Williie Vickers 11 months and nephews Arthur 23 and Julian 19 potential last name is Ben.
