Petrus Wesfael.
"Arriantje Rosenkrans (a young woman of Teeshachtee, born and living there) was married to Petrus Westfael (a single man, born and living in Machackemech) on 25 August 1754, by John Caspar Fryenmuth." The marriage was recorded in the Reformed Church of Machackemeck.[1]
Petrus and Arientje (Rosencrans) Westfall's son Abraham Westfall was born at Machackemeck (Deer Park Township, Orange County, N.Y.) Nov. 18, 1755, died 1829 in Carroll County, Ohio.
Petrus died in an Indian raid on 9 August 1756 at the outbreak of the French and Indian War. "We have a certain account from the Northern Frontiers of this Province ... We have a further account from the same place that on Friday last, three men, to wit, Gerardus Swartwout, eldest son of Major Swartwout, Samuel Finch and Peter Westphalen were found merdered and stript quit naked, and Swartwout and Finch scalped by the Indians, some miles highter up the River Mahakamack and with the Province of New York."[2]
After Arientje was married to John Lyde on 19 August 1757 by Anthony van Etten, Justice of the Peace[3][4], she left her son Abraham with his Uncle Jurian.
