John White was born in 1749. He was the son of George and Hannah (Bryant) White.
John resided in Raynham, then moved to Norton and later to Easton. He married Martha Keith (b. Aug 1754 d. 19 Sep 1816) on 13 Feb 1772. She was the daughter of Josiah and Ruth (Manly) Keith of Easton. John and Martha had eleven children:[1]
1) Adonijah 6, b. in Raynham June 3, 1773.
2) John, b. in Raynham July 31, 1775; married Fear Perry, and died in Ohio leaving ten children, names not known.
3) Sarah, b. in Raynham Sept. 14, 1777 ; married Asahel Dean, Jr. of Norton.
4) Keith, b. in Raynham Jan. 19, 1780 , died May 30, 1781 in Raynham.
5) Howe, b. in Raynham March 3, 1782.
6) George, b. in Raynham Nov. 2, 1784.
7) Patty Keith, b. inRaynham Dec. 2, 1786; married Nov. 27, 1806, Abel Sampson ; went to Maine ; had ten children, names not known.
8) Linus, b. in Raynham Oct. 6, 1788 ; lived near Lake Champlain.
9) Roland, b. in Norton May 15, 1791; moved to Utica, N.Y.
10) Arbela, b. in Norton 1793 ; married John Holmes, lived in New Hampshire.
11) Elizabeth, b. in Norton, and died there Feb. 6, 1795.
In June of 1775 John enlisted as a volunteer at Raynham, Bristol, Massachusetts in the Company of Captain James Keith. He then served for 6 months under the command of Col. Paul Dudley Sargeant. In June of 1776 he reenlisted as a volunteer under Captain James Briggs.[2]
In 1791 he moved to Norton where his last three children were born and lived there until 1807 when he moved to Hopkintown, New Hampshire. There he passed away on 16 Jul 1834.[3] He is buried at Putney Hill Cemetery, Merrimack, NH.
