A commonly promoted belief in the Genealogical Community is that all United States Presidents are related to George Washington.

Some of these claims use relationships through spouses or other non-direct relationships. In the relationships below, all relationships are direct lines to a common ancestor. So cousin relationships except for those who have a direct relationship. The Adam's and Bush's for example.

Hi, I used Relative Finder in partnership with familysearch.org. The program works very quickly and makes up tree charts to and from the common ancestor.

Thanks, John, I use to have the relationship showing but things change a lot on WikiTree thanks to all the work you and others are doing. So changed it to Click Here to See Relationship so you can see the current status. But I guess what you are saying is that it appears as if there is a relationship when there may be none. I will see what I can do to make it clearer.

Hmm, I suspect that this page needs updating. Washington currently doesn't share any common ancestors with Martin Van Buren or Dwight D. Eisenhower; and the Kennedy lineage (and probably Reagan, too) is just a fantasy. And Andrew Johnson's ancestor William Cox has an impossible father; I left a note on his profile.

I have spent the better part of this afternoon checking to see my relationship to the US Presidents. Imagine my total shock and surprise to find that I am related to almost ALL of them! I am even related to John Adams' wife, Abigail (Smith) Adams, who is my 14th Cousin, five times removed (uncertain). Although in checking the surnames of our common ancestors, I believe we ARE related through my mother's ancestry. Thanks for this page. I use the Relationship finder religiously, and have found I am related to almost all the royal houses of Europe, mostly through my maternal line!!

Trudy, click on the "Click Here to see Relationship" link next to each president. I quit listing the relationship directly because of the work being done on each president constantly changes the relationships. But if you click on the links, the current relationship as currently known will show up.

Do you have plans to calculate how they all relate to each other. I worked it out by hand and its mind boggling how many potential relationship s can be found. This is great glad y'all did it.
