Joseph Alden married Hannah Dunham before 29 January 1690 (birth of first child).[1][2] Hannah Dunham, born about 1670, was the daughter of Daniel Dunham. He died when she was young. His will written in January 1677/8 named his wife Hannah and his two daughters, Hannah and Mehittable.[5] On 16 November 1713, Joseph Alden and his wife, Hannah, and Joseph Hayward and Mehetabel, his wife, all of Bridgewater, sold thirty acres of land in Plymouth, which had belonged (granted 9 February 1701/2) to Daniel Donham of Plymouth, deceased.[1][6] In 1726, the same grantors sold land that had been granted to John Donham.[1][7]
Death
Joseph Alden died 22 December 1747, in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, when he was 79 years old.[1][2][3][8] His widow died less than a month later on 14 January 1747/8.[1][8] They were buried in the First Cemetery in Bridgewater, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. His gravestone calls him Deacon.[3]
Will
Joseph gave portions of his lands to each of his surviving sons.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Joseph by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Joseph:
"Hereditary Order of Descendants of Colonial Governors", p. 277 states: "Joseph Alden", b. 1667 Duxbury, MA; d. 22 Dec 1747 Bridgewater. Married 1690 Hannah Dunham, b. 1670, d. 13 Jan 1748 Bridgewater.
I'm not finding a reliable source for the specific birthdate "about 8 Feb 1668" given here, and there's definitely no birth recorded in the Bridgewater VRs. Most sources say about 1667 or 1668. Should this be changed?
