Hi, I see we are 5th cousins from Symonds Fowler
Hey Steve, DNAPortal matched us as cousins and I did a connection check, looks like were related thru my great aunt Sarah Jane Meighen-Bates. I'm super into all the is stuff, so if you want to share notes or have questions of stuff I've got please reach out :) I do have some stories from a book regarding the Bates family. Talk soon! your Digital Cousin, Danielle

I am all for it!

I assume that Meighen is her maiden name?

From what I can quickly check, Timothy Bates, Jr. is my 5th cousin, 3 times removed.

Since he is apparently your grand uncle, and as far as I can tell he had four to eight brothers, which male is your great grandfather?

Sarah Jane Meighen (yes that's her maiden name) Bates married Timothy Bates Jr (the brother of the Honorable Bethal Bates who married Sarah Jane's sister Mary Ann Meighen).

I'm related to the Meighen's; Sarah Jane and Mary Ann had another sister Catherine "Katie" Meighen who married Thomas DeLong; they are my 4th grandparents.

You are from my 4th great-aunt Sarah Jane, who married Timothy Bates Jr who is the son of Timothy Bates Sr who is the son of Ephraim Bates (here is the link to the book with stuff about Ephraim Bates: https://archive.org/details/historyofnobleco00unse) and Ephraim is the son of Mary Ball.

So our first common ancestor is Ephraim Bates (you're related by blood to him via Mary Ball and I'm related to him by blood thru his 2nd great-grandson's wife, so their children are my cousins, yours 3xremoved.

Are you on Ancestry? I have my DNA on there and I'd love to compare (if you'd like too)

in ancestry, on the top right corner where it says your name, click it and scroll down on the drop box to settings and click. once that opens, you'll see your username and you can send me that.

or you can go to ancestry, click search and scroll down the drop box to member search and click. in there you can enter my user id: daniksullivan and you'll see me.

I'm on both of those too, I'll see if I can find you on them too.

Talk soon, D

I looked for daniksullivan on Ancestry and they said there was no member by that.

Find me on geni?

posted by Steve Bacheler
Yes, I did find you on Geni, however I don't have the pro account so I can't look at your profile :( but here is the link to my Geni profile: https://www.geni.com/people/Danielle-Sullivan/6000000068974860853

So weird about ancestry, I even searched for myself and nothing came up. I checked my settings and everything is public, so idk why I'm not being found :(

if you go to my profile on WikiTree I have my DNA results linked there, maybe if you click it that will help take you to my Ancestry Profile?

Hi Steve,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or special event. Read the goals and tasks of the project and join if it is a good fit.

Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.
