The parents of William Buel are NOT Robert Beville and Goode Buell. They are a fabrication of the fraudulent Albert Welles. DO NOT ATTACH THEM TO THIS PROFILE.
Please disregard Albert Welles' English history of William Buell. His American records are probably correct. BUT his William Beville died in England and has no validity, not even Beville's mother's name which was Coles not Goode. Robert Beville's 2nd mother-in-law.
William Buell's origins are not currently known. Standard WikiTree policy is to estimate a male birth 25 years before a known marriage which would make born about 1615. Welles in his discredited English history states a birth year of about 1610 in Chesterton, Huntingdonshire. As it is very possible that William Buell had a wife prior to his 1639 marriage to Mary Unknown (see Marriage section below), his estimated birth year is left at 1610. No proof has been found of specific Welsh or English origin.
Welles states initial immigration to Dorchester, Mass about 1630 followed by "removal" to Windsor, Connecticut about 1635/36. (In actuality, Dorchester was simply renamed Windsor about this time, per Wikipedia.) He was certainly in New England by that date as is also proved by his documented November 1640 marriage (see below).
McCracken in "William Buell & Early Descendants"[1] states that Buell was granted land in Windsor 1 Dec 1640.
An entry is found in land records cited in "The history and genealogies of ancient Windsor, Connecticut...&c" by Stiles stating that Samuel Pond bought land in Windsor in 1641 "by William Buell" confirming that Buell was in Windsor by at least 1641.[2] William Buell appears several more times in this source, usually listed as a carpenter which is how he is listed by the Windsor Historical Society as a founder of Windsor.[3]
McCracken points out an intriguing possibility, the "Goode Buell" who died in Windsor 3 Dec 1639 may have been the mother of William, or it may have been a prior wife. Donald Lines Jacobus was apparently the one who suggested to McCracken that this may have been a prior wife.
William Buell was married 18 November 1640 to Mary _____. Torrey in "New England Marriages to 1700" says this about the marriage
BUEL, William1 (1610-1681) & Mary [POST?/THOMAS?] (-1684); 18 Nov 1640; Windsor, CT/Hadley
Children of William and Mary (_____) Buell (note that Samuel, Peter and Mary were listed by name in William's will and Mary's will also listed Mary as "Milles", listed daughter Hannah Palmer and Hepzibah Welles, gave a hat to Mary which "was Sarah's" implying Sarah was dead by 1684 and listed daughter Hannah with no married name. Neither will listed a daughter Abigail)[1]
The list of children, given in McCracken[1], originally came from a 1677 list of births in Windsor since its founding, created by a Matthew Grant, which matches the above, including Abigail. Subsequent researchers were apparently unable to find other primary sources for Abigail's birth, but she is assumed to have died before her father's 1681 will, in which she is not mentioned.
He died 16 November 1681 at Windsor, Connecticut, leaving a will dated 26 July 1681].[4] (cited source also gives the will of wife Mary).
Manwaring in "A Digest of the Early Conn. Probate Records" cited above[4] gives his death date as 16 Nov 1681, whereas Welles in "History of the Buell Family in England and America",[5] says that William Buell Sr. died 23 Nov 1681 in Windsor. Although the English history of the Buell family by Welles is suspect, some of his American history may well be accurate and should at least be reviewed.

Should this be removed from Buel-138?
"At least he doesn't say he was a Beville of Huntingdonshire. England. Henry Stiles called him a " Welchman". That's where it came from. Via "History of Ancient Windsor CT" page 153 Vol 1 Believe him or not, At least it deserves a mention to start searching I searched an online phone book. No Buels any spellings. current when I checked. Years ago. Ed"
Dare I ( ) be to ask if Mr Anderson travels to anywhere to check his workers research. Some claim his parents died over here when very well they were known to have died in England and one was his stepmother not mother.
Did Welles provide a reference for his alternate date (23 November 1681)?
Thank you in advance.
Albert Welles did a very botched up, guessed at tree. Even he said "IT APPEARS TO BE,,,,,,"
The notion of Albert Welles and his researchers was totally twisted. Beville was never Buel
