Hi Rita! I haven't heard back from you regarding the Scotland Project check-in. I hope you are well and look forward to hearing from you soon.

It's time for our annual Scotland Project check-in!

This year we are hoping to learn what our membership would like to accomplish over the next 12 months. In case you aren't aware, this year is WikiTree's ""Year of Connections"" and the Project's leadership would like to contribute to this in as many ways as possible.

We would appreciate it if you would share your thoughts and ideas with us on how we can accomplish this goal. We would also appreciate it if you would provide some feedback on our existing goals, including:

• If you have not yet signed up to help on one of the project's teams, which team(s) would you be interested in joining?
• How often should we provide a Project Newsletter?
• Have you participated in the Tartan Trail? If not, is this something you'd be interested in doing?
• Do you have a question(s) that we could add to a Frequently Asked Questions page?
• Any suggestions or ideas you have on ways to improve the Scotland Project in general

We continue to communicate with our Project members via Google Group (official) and Discord (unofficial), as well as G2G. You may also reach out to any of the Project leaders via WikiTree's internal messaging system at any time.

Thank you for all you do to help the Scotland Project become a knowledge hub for Scottish genealogical research! We wish you all the best in 2022!

It’s time for a Project check-in!

Scotland Project Leaders check in with you at least once a year to see how you are doing. With the changes happening around the world, we understand that life is hectic right now.

What are you planning to work on for the Scotland Project this year? Are you happy with the team(s) you part of, or would you like to make some changes?

This time round, we’re also looking for feedback on the use of Google Group and Discord. Do you use one or both of these? If you don’t use either of them, what is the best way to ensure you receive Project communications? If you would like to join us on Google Group or Discord, let us know in your response.

As a member of the Scotland Project, we'd love to have you join the Twisted Thistles

in the upcoming Connect-a-thon the weekend of July 17 - July 20. If you'd like to join us and help to develop our ever-expanding Scottish tree, please register on the G2G post here and be sure to mention you'd like to be on the Twisted Thistles team for Scotland.

Rita I am new to Wikitree, but can see we had a lot in common in the desires and interests you have mentioned. My Carpenters are of the R I ancesterage and brick wall in early 1800s in southern N Y. I'd be greatful for a note back from you! Sincerely Evelyn

Thank you Rita for self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge. Now it is time to pick a project for the 1700's profiles. Please ensure location data matches date of profile and avoid abbreviations.

The United States History might fit with the contributions and comments on your tree. Adding the tag United_States_History will help you get updates about activity for that project.

Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Check the list of active projects to see if one better fits your needs.active projects

I'm Eowyn, a WikiTree Mentor and Team Member. Our primary vision is to build a collaborative tree with just one profile per person. The farther back in your tree, the more likely you will find duplicate profiles to link into, so it's a good idea to do a search before you create a new profile. Try to add an estimated date and place of birth, at the very least, a country, for each person. This helps in searches. Last but not least, try to source each profile as you go.

We also have a naming standard here.

You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add any Profiles to WikiTree.

If you need any help getting started check out the Help section,or head over to the G2G forum, you might want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created.

Our Mentor Team are a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to help you with specific problems if you have any.

Working on my tree in Ancestry and Family Search, I've been struck by how arbitrary many of the associations in my tree appear. I would really like to clear up discrepancies and eliminate errors, as well as get by some brick walls.

Welcome as a guest to WikiTree! We're growing a FREE worldwide family tree, striving for ONE collaborative profile for every person.

A couple suggestions to get you started:

1. Feel free to ask a question at our G2G forum.

2. Our help pages, top right, have all sorts of useful information.

If you would like to contribute, leave a comment in the box on the left and click the volunteer link and to let our greeters know. You should include a little bit about how you plan to contribute to the tree.
