Hi Jerry,

I've been under the weather all year and haven't worked on wikitree at all, but I've been seeing all the meticulous work you've been doing on the Hasbroucks in my daily feed. (My mother's maternal grandmother was a Hasbrouck.) Thank you so much for your diligence and high standards; feel free to correct errors you see in my profiles! I hope to resume making contributions before the summer is out, likely in my husband's family.

yes, the Freemans are the same He was my great-grandfather, father of my grandpa Frank Hasbrouck and quite a few other kids. He was born in New York, Ulster County, to Isaac and Alma Caroline Hasbrouck May 28, 1849 and died rather young on June 18, 1896. I could never find out why his father took the family including a new born suddenly away from apparently a good life in New York (1869) across the country through Michigan and Wisconsin just to end up as day laborers in rural Iowa. Freeman was actually "farmed out" to another family as a teenage worker. Definitely not a good career move!

Hi Jerry, I noticed you chose our Integrators Challenge for this month (Apr 2021), thank you!

Got a question, see this page:https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Space:Integrators_Project_Challenge_Outline  and ....  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Integrators_Challenge#How_the_Challenge_Works

Thank you and Good Luck!! Dorothy,  Integrators Project Coordinator.

Hi Jerry! The question that you posted to https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Name_Field_Guidelines is more appropriate to G2G... In other words, I'm probably not the best person to answer the question.

When you post it to G2G, there will be a box at the bottom of the question window for "tags" - add naming_conventions & german_roots to help ensure the folks who can help see your question.

That said, take a look at WikiTree's Help page for the name fields - http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Name_Fields - which might help with your question.

Cheers, Liz

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for having a big heart and adopting the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention those profiles need.

You might be interested in some of the tips and tricks that we have included in the How-Tos that we share with new members these days. They were created long after you became a member so you never received them.

If you have WikiTree questions, I am here to help.

P.S. If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section on your profile page.

Hi Jerry,

I see that you just did the Pre-1700 Self-Certification. That's great! This certification requires participation in a project related to the profiles you wish to edit. Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Maybe you have some historically-significant ancestors? Also, check out our Volunteer Hub to see our projects that really need new members!

Let me know! I can help you figure out if there's a project and introduce you to the project leaders. Welcome aboard!

Hi, I am Dorothy, a WikiTree mentor!! Are you enjoying your time on WikiTree so far?

Now that you have had a little time to try our site, there are a few more features you may find useful:

For instance, ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards; including some tips on writing biographies

Also a friendly reminder about adding sources and references to your profile. Sources are critically important for genealogy and you will be helping future genealogists by listing where the information you've added came from. This page describes different kinds of sources: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Sources

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Hello Gerald!

You are now a confirmed member of WikiTree! Thank you for volunteering to add your precious family history.

Wow!!! You're the 41st Corkins profile on Wikitree! I bet your 'cousins' on Wikitree will benefit greatly once you add your insightful collaboration, sourced research and first-hand knowledge.

Have fun and ask for help if you need it! WikiTree members are always eager to offer guidance to a fellow genealogist.

If you need additional help, our Mentors Project is a friendly group of volunteers who are glad to assist you with WikiTree-specific problems.

Deborah, Volunteer Greeter

Hi Gerald,

Welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests.

Once you volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

Welcome to the family! We’re really glad you’re here.

Fred
