Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have pre-1700's ancestors to add please read our Pre-1700 profiles info. Do you have Royal Ancestors? Rather than create duplicate profiles for them, please contact the EuroAristo Project to discuss connecting your family line to their profiles.

I started researching my paternal family tree in 2011, during treatment for cancer to keep my mind occupied when I was dealing with the side effects of treatment. I've always loved history, and geneology. Researching, finding, and piecing together the information I find is interesting, and fun. It's the stories that I can then piece together that makes it so worthwhile. I have built a connection to family that I've never met.

I have received information from other researchers, at various times, which helped me add some missing details, and lead me to other sources, for which I am grateful. I hope that I can do the same for other researchers. While I understand that some genealogy sites are run as a business, I don't agree with providing them with my information which others then have to pay to get access to. My assistance is freely given. no strings attached
