Death date was between 16 Jan 1787, the date of daughter Agnes' marriage held in his home and the 19 June 1787 Personal Property Tax record where he was not listed.

The place of death was the family property - Louisa Deed Book "I" [letter] - p 190 This indenture made this 29th day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & ninety six between Lucy Johnson of Louisa county of the one part and her son Micajah Johnson of the other part; Witnesseth that for the great love & esteem that she has for her son Micajah and in consideration of five shillings to her in hand paid the receipt when of she doth hereby acknowledge hath granted, bargained, & sold unto the said Micajah a certain tract or parcel of land lying in Louisa County on Peters & Poor Creek having the tract whereon she now lives and where on her deceased husband James Johnson died containing by estimation two hundred and twenty five acreas and bounded as followeth between the lands of John Lasley, Boverley Ragland, John Downing and Peter Crawford. To have and to hold with all it appertenances there unto belonging to the only use and behoff of the said Micajah Johnson and his heirs forever which title the said Lucy Johnson doth warrant and forever defend against the claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever to Micajah Johnson or his heirs forever. In witness where she hath herewit set her hand and affirxed her seal the day and year above written. Lucy Johnson (her mark)

This was the basis for the son James' 1807 Power of Attorney to his son Zachariah trying to get back his share of the property. See James "Seneca" Johnson in Campbell County Deed Book 8 p 81.

I referred to Find A Grave. I know this is not a trusted source. Family Search has his death as 9 Oct. 1786 from "US Son of the American Revolution Applications:. I apologize for my mistakes.

The correct James Johnson that married Lucy Moorman is https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Johnson-6302

The son James is not their son.
