P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

Hi Trent!

Thanks for self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Collaboration with Pre-1700 Project members is essential for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. Collaboration is essential because those ancestors are usually shared by many descendants.

It looks like the US Southern Colonies Project would be a good fit based on your branch of WikiTree. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Do you have any questions? Let me know. I'm happy to help! :-)

Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles you manage, or edit. (See: Pre-1700 Reliable Sources).

Hi Trent,

Thanks for having a big heart and adopting the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up GEDCOM biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

Debi

PS There is a new tool that can help with the GEDCOM cleanup. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Hi Trent and thank you for upgrading, 😊

I am very pleased to welcome you to the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.

It is best to start with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration.

Thank you for adding your DNA to WikiTree. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.

Happy tree climbing

Hi! Looking at some of the information on The Tree. I came across some information that I doubt to be true. It concerns Martha Jane Killough, supposed daughter of Thomas Killough and Margaret. I adopted Martha's profile by the way. Information in question, first and foremost is whether she is the wife of Robert R Brown. I have tracked down Robert R Brown's wife's headstone. It reads "Jane A Brown" . Now there was a "Jane Aldine Killough", daughter of John and Sarah KIllough living in Cabarrus County, NC at the same time that "Martha Jane Killough" was living there in Cabarrus County with her Supposed family Thomas and Margaret Killough. Notice how I keep saying supposed? It is my hypothesis that Mary Jane never existed. I think that Martha Jane was Margaret Jane Killough. Is your head spinning yet? LOL How do I answer these question? Please HELP!

Hi Trent,

I'm so glad to see you've been diving in head first - I think you've been doing a great job on your profiles! I also think that you've brought up some great points, and I'd suggest you post a G2G question about your hypothesis..who knows what you'll get back!?! Our G2G is very active and I'm sure it won't be long before someone gets back to you with their thoughts on the matter. A tactic I often use is to research both people until you can confirm weather they are the same person or not. Just some thoughts.

Thanks for adopting Martha's profile, it's awesome to know she'll be so well looked after.

Good to have you aboard, and all the best in your search. I hope this helps and don't be shy to shout should you need any further assistance
