4 Jun 1958, correspondence from Maybelle Delamar, Box 305, Raleigh, NC to Mrs. Anne B. Murphree Inman "...I am sure that some of the property was lost through Lord Granville's office. The Will shows that the land that he left to Solomon and Moses was in Granville's office, and he was hoping to save at least part of it when the office opened again. Revolution came along and his property was confiscated. All the holders of the land who did not have clear titles lost..."

"Because of the fact that most of the early deeds in Orange Co. were destroyed, it is not determined just how early Daniel Murphree came to that county. His name is not on the 1755 poll tax list and he was there in 1762. He probably came about 1760/61. Settlers came to Orange Co., NC from the western part of NC and from many other states. Perhaps there were more from PA than any other state."

The Murphree name was originally "Murphy" in Ireland; however, in a great Irish Rebellion against British oppression, several Murphy sons fought to prominence. When the British won the battle and sought the Murphys for conviction, they hastened to America and changed the name to "Murphree" and "Murfree". Their intention was to have the word "free" as an eternal part of the name from that time forward.

Murphrey-2 and Murphree-97 appear to represent the same person because: This is unsourced and the son David Murphree does have sourcing stating his parents. See Murphree-105.

Mindy,

I generally do not post to profile particularly when they are protected without touching base with the PM. I have Daniel's handwritten Will if would like to add it to his profile. His daughter Elizabeth is my 4th great grandmother and you will see my au-DNA on his. In my opinion, she is the only wife of Solomon, Sr. (Barne368), although his profile shows two. If you have any information on this or other information about her, it will be appreciated.

Mindy,

I would like to add Daniel to the Southern Colonist project, and protect his profile. Also any of his siblings who were settlers in the Southern colonies. Do you have any objections? Bob

Murphree-638 and Murphree-97 do not represent the same person because: Record indicates same family, spouse....but birth and death dates and birth location are way off. Either not the same person, or we have some mixed up info. Suggest further research to resolve.
