I am from the United States of America Born in 1966 in Mississippi but soon relocated to Northwest Indiana where I lived until 2000. At that time I relocated to Arizona. Three children and 3 grandchildren.
I have been a nurse in many settings for 30+ yearsInterested in computers, tech and histories of all sorts. I enjoy fishing and geocaching. Growing interest in my fathers family line- Which is Osborn. I have made a connection to the Dukes of Leeds family line.
I am 13th cousins once removed with Queen Elizabeth II. WOW. Having really gotten the bug for genealogy, I maintain ancestry.com, FamilySearch.org and several other accounts to help me find source information. Its like doing a giant puzzle....when there is an error somewhere I just cant quit till I figure it out.
As I have gone along, The Uhls family has become very interesting with some very cool civil war ties and stories. The Osborn and Uhls families have been in the United states since colonial days and have fought for this Country since the War of Independence.
It has made me very happy to have gotten to 'meet' some distant, and not so distant cousins and other family members.
I have come into some very interesting, and VERY old family photos that I am currently (July 2018) working on uploading. ==

Note: Osborne Surname Name Meaning, Origin, History, & Etymology. The name is Viking in origin, as it derives from the Norse personal name Asbiorn (or Åsbjørn), which itself is composed of the elements as (god) and bjorn (bear). It was present in England before the Norman Conquest of 1066 AD. It was later reinforced by the Norman name Osbern. This is a baptismal/patronymic surname meaning “the son of Osbern”, which is an ancient personal (first name). However, another source (the book an Etymological Dictionary of Family and Christian Names by William Arthur published in 1857) asserts the name is Saxon in origin, deriving from the words hus (house) and bearn (a child), meaning an adopted child. Two famous bearers of the personal name were killed in the same battle in 1054 AD: Osbern Pentecost, a Norman fighting for Macbeth, and Osbern, the son of Earl Siward, with his father at the head of the victorious Northumbrians. The first name Osbern was common in the Domesday Book of 1086 AD, which was a survey of England and Wales ordered by William the Conqueror. The family first became established in Kent, England, where they descended from a branch of the Fitz-Osberne family, where a one Thomas Osberne was listed on a writ of Quo warranto for the Abbey of Dartford. The original progenitor of the family was Osberne Fitz-Letard who owned the lands of Odo in Bayeaux in 1086 AD. Many people with this name descended from Sarum in Normandy, France.

The Uhls family which is my mothers fathers family is very interesting indeed. Here is a link to anyone needing information: Uhls Family History book on line https://dcms.lds.org/delivery/DeliveryManagerServlet?dps_pid=IE60336 not sourced but good leads.

Some spelling variants or names with similar etymologies include Osborn, Osbourne, Osbornne, Osbourn, Osburne, Osburn, Osberne, and others.
I have identified three Osborne family mottoes: 1) Quantum in rebus inane (What emptiness in all human things) 2) Je gagne (I win) 3) Pax in bello (Peace in war)
Our Uhls family is easy to trace on the one hand because there are so few of us, and the name does not appear that frequently. On the other hand, it is difficult because you have to be imaginative to understand the various ways the name was spelled, or might have been spelled. In working on this family history, I have encountered the following spellings of the name: Uhl Uhler Uhle Ule Uhls Ooles Uhles Ose Uhlin Euler.................................... to name only a few.
Generally, these are all the same surname, although in time, many of us have adopted the revised spelling. These variations of the name are easy to understand when you consider the following:
- The literacy of the individual and his/her own ability to spell. - The way someone else phonetically spelled the name when it was pronounced, e.g., Ooles, Ose. - The difficulty with reading and then transcribing early German script. - The habit of early immigrants of "Americanizing" their names, e.g., Johannes Graff became John Groves. It's my opinion that anyone with any one of the above surnames is most likely related, although some very distantly.
