Biography

  • "There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children.... One of these is roots, the other, wings" ~ Hodding Carter

This page is dedicated to my Mother, Frances (Woods) Painter and my Maternal Grandmother, Emma Grace (Bandle) Woods whose unending quest for "From whence we came ..." led to my unending quest to find the arrival of each our ancestors here in America.

We are English, Dutch, German, Irish, Scottish, Welsh, French, we were Puritans, Quakers, Baptists, Presbyterians many of whom fled to this country for their religious freedom, we have fought in all of the battles fought during the development of this country, we were farmers, ministers, blacksmiths, seamen, political leaders, carpenters, teachers, merchants, surveyors, lawyers, and whose descendants somehow made their way to Fulton County, Illinois

  • ."....You are their heir; you sit upon their throne; The blood and courage that renowned them Runs in your veins...."

King Henry V, Shakespeare

Hi Judith,

If you have a moment could you check your pending merges? There's a merge on Mosher-561 that could use an approval to get a few profiles completed. Thanks! Bobbie Mayflower Project Leader

There is a pending merge for Evan T Morgan, Morgan-3937. Can you please review.
Your entry for Thomas S Jenkins (born 1805 in TN) is my Great Great Grandfather. His trail seems to end at his birth. Thank you for your contributions.

I found some info when I googled Ulrich Eshleman that said Frances Herr is the great granddaughter of Hans Herr, the first Mennonite Bishop in Lancaster County, PA. Http://Leno.myweb.uga.edu/eshelman_geno.html
Thank you for all of your contributions to our community's shared tree! That Hodding Carter quote is absolutely perfect.
