Aden Perkins (Alden, Olden) was the fourth and youngest son of Richard Perkins and his wife Elizabeth Beresford. He was named after his maternal grandfather, Aden Beresford,[1] and baptised on 22 Jul 1582 in Bunny, Nottinghamshire, England. [2]

"Aden Perkins, grocer" is listed among the "Adventurers" to Virginia:

whether they go in their persons, to be planters there in the said plantation, or whether they go not, but adventure their monies, goods, or chattles ... [3]

Many of them did not go, but were adventurers of the purse (stockholders) only.

He and his brothers were grocers in England where they help fund the trip to British America. [citation needed] There is some proof that he came to Jamestown, Virginia, but later returned to England.[4]

He is said to have married Anne Elizabeth Kymball c1610. She was born 1582 in Nottinghamshire, and was the daughter of Nicholas Kymball. [citation needed]

Reputed children of Arthur (Aden) (Arden) Perkins include: [citation needed]

  1. Mary PARKYNS was born 1612 in Bunny, Nottinghamshire, England, and died DEC 1662.
  2. Ann PARKYNS was born 7 SEP 1619 in Bunny Park, Nottinghanshire, England, was christened 7 SEP 1619 in St Marys Church, Bunny Park, Nottinghamshire, England.
  3. Nicholas PERKINS was born BEF 1624 in Bedfordshire, England, was christened 3 APR 1631 in Dunstable, Bedfordshire, England, and died BEF 31 JUL 1656 in Charles City, Henrico, Virginia. He married Mary BURTON 1639 in England, daughter of John BURTON and Lydia FRY. She was born 1618 in London, Middlesex, England, and died AFT 1686 in Henrico, Virginia. He married Elizabeth HARDYNGE, daughter of Constantine HARDYNGE. She was born 1619 in Bedfordshire, England, and died BEF 1640 in England.
  4. Richard PARKYNS was born 19 FEB 1631 in Bunny Park, Nottinghanshire, England, was christened 19 MAR 1632 OR 19 MAR 1633 in Bunny Park, Nottinghamshire, England.
  5. George PERKINS was born 19 FEB 1631 in Bunny Park, Nottinghanshire, England, was christened 19 MAR 1632 OR 19 MAR 1633 in Bunny Park, Nottinghamshire, England.
  6. Thomas PERKINS was born ABT 1633 in Bunny Park, Nottinghanshire, England.
  7. Elizabeth PERKINS was born ABT 1643 in Goochland, Virginia.

The records of The Virginia Land Company Vol 3 show Aden arrived June 22 1620.

There are others also shown with the same surname and some with a spelling variation. Sir Christopher Parkins, Sir Nicholas Parker, Edward Parkins, Edward Parkins widow and Thomas Perkins. I suppose these relationships will need to be vetted.[5]

Aden died about 1633 in Costhorpe, Nottinghamshire, England. [citation needed]

Perkins-970 and Perkins-953 appear to represent the same person because: From the dates, parentage and list of children Arthur is clearly a duplicate of Aden (Arden). For those children for whom baptisms have been found his wife was Mary - at least Elizabeth and those after her. It is possible that the earlier children were those of Anne Kimball, but that is uncertain. I suggest that she is left as a possible earlier wife for now pending further research.

I stumbled on this and thought it might be of interest as you try to sort out this family.

http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/th/read/PERKINS/2002-02/1013470270. Seems to me like the confusion is really around Nicholas and who his parents are.....

Perkins-970 and Perkins-953 do not represent the same person because: There are twins in that family and I need to go back and see if Arthur is Aden's twin. Do you have any documentation showing they are individuals?

Perkins-970 and Perkins-953 appear to represent the same person because: Same birth and death dates, same parents. The biography of Perkins-970 reports this is Arthur (Aden) Perkins - same name. There is no evidence for a son named "Arthur" but there was an Aden.

Please approve if you agree, Thanks!
