Goals

This is a One Name Study to collect together in one place everything about one surname and the variants of that name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join our study to help make it a valuable reference point for people studying lines that cross or intersect.

Task List

1. Complete the lines from DNA test takers to their associated Principal Sheldon progenitor. (See below)

2. Complete the family group for each profile in that line.

3. Ensure each profile is Genealogically Defined. We need these lines to be well documented in order to confirm by DNA.

4. Review Sheldon Unsourced Profiles for accuracy and source additions.

5. Review Sheldon Pending Merges for completion.

6. Review Sheldon Suggested Changes for possible corrections.

7. Review the Sheldons shown on the page Space: Sheldons in Military. Ensure that their military service is shown accurately on their profiles, with sources. Add military related categories as appropriate. Add Sheldons who have been omitted to the list.

Sheldon Family Tree DNA Project

We need DNA test takers to join WikiTree. This will help us find and compare DNA to confirm lines. WikiTree facilitates autosomal DNA test comparisons through GEDMatch.com and links to Family Tree DNA. Family Tree DNA and YSearch are used to compare Y-DNA tests.

Hi all, I am stepping down as a manager of this group. My focus is elsewhere these days. Thank you all for your great work, keep it going.

Would someone care to look at the family of Godfrey Sheldon please? I came across him while trawling through the Derbyshire data errors. His wife was aged 10 at marriage; children born in Derbyshire 1622, 1624, 1626, 1632, and 1640, but in Massachusetts 1625 and 1628 and Maine 1636 and 1638. It looks to me as if two or more families have been conflated. I'm happy to work on the Derbyshire sources, but I think it needs a pincer movement with someone familiar with the New England records.

Thanks, Stephen (Derbyshire team leader)

I do not see my name. I joined before. My daughter is Steven Sheldon's child. His Father is Keith Sheldon and his Mother Gwen Orr. His family is direct descendants of Issac Sheldon.

Michael and Dale, How far down do you want the Category for the correct Sheldon applied? Do you need DNA proof before applying it?
