My William Russell is not attached to either of the John Russell's but he is attached to Rachel Hobbs. The DAR records for John Russell who was married to Rachel Hobbs was born in 1758 NOT 1785. I have been researching this family for a few years and have sourced a lot of their profiles. If I remember correctly he was living in Lee County in the mid 1830's. There are land records on the LVA cite that indicate this. I am the PM of his daughter Faithy Orr's profile https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Russell-4295 I know she remained in Lee County and is shown on the 1850 Census. There is also a death record I cited that has John Russell as her father. Rachel and John moved with her family to Virginia and settled on the Holston. (cited on his profile). There are also early 1800s Census showing John living very close to the Vincent Hobbs family, I cited those on Vincent's profile and Land records showing John lived very close to the Vincent Hobbs family, If you look at John Russell's profile John Russell (abt.1758-1838) there are many sources validating the relationship between Rachel and him. Nothing about your John W Russell being the husband of Rachel Hobbs make any sense at at all. Rachel Hobbs needs to be removed from your John W. and further research is needed.
