Biography

Please do not reconnect Jonathan White as husband.

"The authors found no evidence to support the claim of Roscoe R. White in White Family Record (1939) pp 22-5, that Jonathan White m. 8 Aug 1708 Margaret Elizabeth Alexander, b. Ca. 1670 and had 2 children: Alexandr b. 8 Sept. 1709, and Margaret. Alexander is said to have d. Greenwich NJ in Sept. 17767 having had 10 children, including one name Peregrine. When Roscoe White submitted this lineage to the Mayflower Society, the only evidence offered was a record in a family Bible printed in 1870, with all entries in the same hand. The Society does not accept this lineage."[1]

Allegedly she was born in c 1670 in Marshfield, Plymouth Colony; married 8 Aug 1708; died 12 Apr 1718 and had at least two children Alexander and Margaret. She was the daughter of Alexander White. [2] She was allegedly buried in the family plot. [3]

Research Notes

A source is needed to confirm her birth date ...

- born on 18 Jan 1670 ? OR
- born on 01 May 1670 ?

She was removed from the profile of Jonathan White. [4]

NOTE: Per Mayflower Families Vol. 13 p. 17 this is a fictional person cited in a long ago discredited 1939 bogus White genealogy. DO NOT USE wife for Jonathan White.

"Mayflower Families Through Five Generations" v13 p16-17 by William White in 2006 which notes false information of a wife for Jonathan White by the name of Margaret Elizabeth Alexander from a dubious White genealogy of 1939. The Mayflower Society does not accept this lineage, but has still not determined what to do with it. When they do, this profile will need to be updated.

Profile is clear that she was not the wife of Jonathan White. I have removed him and the alleged son

I am unsure I would have made the last amendment because of the NOTE and note 3.

However I hesitate before doing anything about it.

DB Errors Project:

Check the data. A mother's death date should not be before one of her children's birth dates.
