I have a number of AncestryDNA matches through Latitia Whitescarver (1715-1799), a Big Y-700 DNA match with my father's brother and a Big Y-700 match with an adopted man who was fathered by a Wisecarver but does not wish to participate here. All three of us descend from a man known as Haplogroup of I-FTD319.

I would like to encourage any Wisecarver (or variation of the name; Whitescarver, Wyscarver, etc) male to take the Family Tree DNA Big Y-700 test. It would especially be helpful if someone who is descended from George W Wisecarver 1756, John N Wisecarver, Jr 1766, Joseph Wisecarver 1780, or Henry Wisecarver1784 was tested. Please, send me a note after you submit your test.

Wayne,

Noticed some of the profiles you created. Looks like you're well on your way to some pretty nice write-ups. Dropping you a line because I noticed your sources seem to be hand-crafted (that's perfectly okay!) and I wanted to offer you a big time saver.

The WikiTree Sourcer browser extension can make source citations on most popular genealogy sites for you in a single click. Then you can just paste them right in, all pre-formatted and pretty. For FamilySearch, it can even build every source attached to an entire person in a single click.

Most users get up and running in about 15 minutes. Mindy Silva made a great video tutorial on how to use it and there's also a WikiTree Sourcer User Guide|User Guide as well.

Hope this helps!

Jeff

Thank you, Jeff. This is definitely an area that I lack expertise in, so it is time consuming for me. Problem is, I forget what sourcing tips I learn when I am away from WT for a prolonged period of time. I am trying to complete some of my family Profiles that I have added to WT from Ancestry and your suggestions should help me to be a little more consistent with my sourcing. Thanks for your patience, Wayne

Wayne,

The Sourcer plugin also has a button that can bring over all of the vitals from an Ancestry profile... birth date and place, death date and place, marriage date, etc. That button's two clicks instead of one, but for me it's really cut down on my errors when transcribing them across manually. I've been using it almost every day myself. :)

Best of luck,

Jeff

Hi, Wayne,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
