Sherry Lynn Young was born in January, 1957, in St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, Peoria County, Illinois, USA. Her parents are: Isaac Young and Mattie Roena Hardwick Young (Margaret). Sherry grew up in the same house for 17 years. Sherry was the third of four living children. Sherry attended and graduated from Richland Elementary School, Central Jr. High School, and East Peoria Community High School. She also attended Illinois Central College for one year and took some Bible classes at Grand Canyon College in Phoenix, Arizona, while her husband was a student there. Sherry and her husband R. Elsey were married in August, 1977, at Wesley Southern Baptist Church in East Peoria, Tazewell County, Illinois, USA. They lived in Morton, Illinois; East Peoria, Illinois; Tucson, Arizona; Tremont, Illinois; Phoenix, Arizona; Louisville, Kentucky; Ingraham, Illinois; Rome, Illinois; Louisville, Kentucky; Rising Sun, Indiana; Hopkinsville, Kentucky; Nashville Tennessee; and Columbia, Tennessee. They adopted their son, N. Elsey in 1988. He was born in September, 1987, in Seoul, South Korea. He arrived by airplane at O'Hare Airport in Chicago, Illinois, to join our family in the early morning hours of January 13, 1988.
Sherry's work history includes: Ponderosa Steak House in Peoria, Illinois; Holiday Inn Restaurant in East Peoria, Illinois; student worker at Illinois Central College in East Peoria, Illinois; data entry at Farm Bureau Ins. in Pekin, Illinois; office manager at The Tazewell Courier newspaper, East Peoria, Illinois; respiratory therapy tech at St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois; library tech at Univ. of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona; secretary to the librarian, Grand Canyon College, Phoenix, Arizona; reference assistant (2 different times) at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary Library, Louisville, Kentucky; Talman Home Savings and Loan, Peoria, Illinois; mail sorter at Caterpillar Tractor Company, Mossville, Illinois; office manager, APCO Services, Hopkinsville, Kentucky; office manager at Cleeton, Davis Court Reporters, Nashville, Tennessee; human resources assistant at Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, Brentwood/Franklin, Tennessee. Sherry retired in September of 2019.
She was raised in church and began being involved in church work as a Sunday School teacher when she was 15. She has been Sunday School teacher, Youth Leader, GA Leader, Acteens Leader, Associational Acteen Director, Women's Group Leader, Women's Bible Study Facilitator, choir member, along with other church positions, as well as being the pastor's wife.
Sherry began doing family genealogy in 1980.

Thank you also for adding a GEDCOM. The GEDCOM does not automatically populate your tree. It generates a GEDCOMpare report which you work through, either accepting or rejecting all suggested matches. Once that has been done, you should see [add] buttons for each of the remaining names.
The GEDCOMpare process guide has tips on how to use the data in your file most efficiently.
For those using Chrome, Opera or Firefox browsers, there is a tool that can help with the formatting of profiles which have been created through GEDCOM, so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.
