Hi Rita,

Thank you for your contributions to WikiTree. I noticed that you merged.John Patrick Monks (abt.1805-1859) into Alfred Fetherstonhaugh (1862-1895), two men with different names, dates and locations. In WikiTree merges are for duplicate profiles. Since the profile of John Patrick Monks does not exist anymore, maybe a family will be missing an ancestor. Should he be recreated and reconnected to his son Monks-796 ?

Rita,

Just a note that Burke's is not considered a reliable source for pre-1700 profiles. You might want to check with the England project or see the list of reliable sources

Hi Rita

Just a note to say how much the work you are doing in relation to the Cassidy surname is appreciated, thank you.

You may be interested in adding your Cassidy profile to the Cassidy One Name Study(ONS), there is a category you can add to these profiles, See how to add categories to your Cassidy profiles https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Cassidy_Name_Study  these links can just be copied and pasted into profiles

This is a link to the space page for the Cassidy One Name Study - https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Cassidy_Name_Study

My Paternal Great Grandmother was a Cassidy of Irish origin.

If I can be of any help let me know

Janet when I click those links it tells me the pages are gone. Are they correct?

Thanks Rita

All the Best

Janet

Hi Rita!

Since you uploaded a GEDCOM, I wanted to give you the link to a tutorial that one of our mentors created that others found very helpful. I hope that you will too.

GEDCOMpare process

The GEDCOM will not automatically populate your tree, it generates a GEDCOMpare report which you work through either accepting or rejecting suggested matches. Once you have done this the data from your file will be filled in on the add profile screen so that you can review and make adjustments before saving.

Hi again Rita

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Pre-1700 ancestors can be shared by many descendants, so collaboration is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

The England and Ireland Projects may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find other possibilities. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Have questions? Let me know by using the "reply" link under my comments or by clicking my name to visit my profile. From there you can leave a comment or send a private message.

Hi Rita

As you have been a member of WikiTree for a few weeks now I thought I would check in to see how you are getting on with the site.

Has the New Member How-To been helpful or left you with any questions?

I am here to help with any problems or queries you may have. To contact me, reply to this comment, or click the link to my name and then send a private message or post a comment on my profile page.

Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.

Welcome Rita!

Thanks for volunteering! I am pleased to confirm and welcome you to the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.

I would suggest starting with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration. Don't be afraid to ask questions in our G2G forum and get involved as much or as little as works for you. Be sure to check out the tabs at the very top right hand side of your profile, there is lots to discover!

I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do!

Happy tree climbing

Rhonda ~ WikiTree Greeter
