Each day, Monday through Friday, we've been highlighting profiles in our Heritage Showcase on WikiTree social media accounts.

Do you have a profile you're especially proud of?

We're looking for profiles that have good source citations and well-written biographies. An image would be an added bonus! Example: Gajovich-1 | Twitter post

They do not need to be "notable".

If you'd like to suggest a profile, here is the form to fill out:

If you'd like to become more involved in spreading the word about WikiTree and/or learn more about how you can share your ancestors' profiles on your own social media accounts, join the Ambassadors Project!

I do not want to submit a profile just now, but I can tell you a little about Dawson New Mexico (where your subject died.)  It was a company town run by the Phelps Dodge Corporation. Dawson is where Phelps Dodge mined the coal they need to generate the electricity needed by their electrolytic copper refineries. Company towns have a bad reputation, but Dawson seems to be an exception to this rule.  My maternal grandfather worked there as a contractor for a few years driving a small bus between Dawson and Santa Rosa. See Heisel-120. My mother and at lest one of her sisters were born there in the early 1920s.  Dawson is now just a flat place on the prairie. Literally.  You need to be within a few hundred yards to know that there ever was a town there.  Although I cannot dig it out today, I have a scrapbook with photos of Dawson from the early 1920s..  There also is a website devoted to the history of Dawson, but I seem to have lost the URL for it. Lots of photos if you can find it.Finally, check the collection of newspapers at the University of New Mexico. I know they have the Cuervo Clipper; Cuervo is near Santa Rosa.

I have a candidate in mind but I feel the need to check with my siblings before offering it.

Thanks for the information, David! If you're interested there is a One Place Study for Dawson.
