Hi, I started two one name projects:

Whitehill

Everett

Thank you!!
I would like to join the Stone surname study and get the badge for that.
Wow! That literally took me all day. Maggie is amazing!

If I missed anything (like awarding you a badge), give a holler.

I'll be here all week. Bear with me :D

Cheers,
Liz
Hi Deb! I awarded you the ONS Badge. You'll need to contact the manager of the Stone Name Study - post a comment on that page: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Stone_Name_Study  You might also want to send a trusted list request: https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Space:Stone_Name_Study&action=joinnetwork

Cheers, Liz
Hi Maggie, I started one a few weeks ago for 'Weston' and left a message for Doug, but I don't seem to have received the badge.  Can you check if the admin has been done?.

Thanks,

Chris.
Hi Chris!

I finished all the admin stuff except I didn't edit the categories you have under the UK county categories. I added the corresponding location, Name Studies for the categories that didn't have it & also added a link to Space:Weston Name Study on all of them

I had started on the parish-level ones, but hit a snag with Cranbrook - it should be under [[Category: Kent, Weston Name Study]] & [[Category:Cranbrook, Kent, Name Studies]], but the latter doesn't exist. Instead of leaving a red category, I put it under Kent, Name Studies, but that's not really a good solution. Maybe just for now skip adding a location category if the parish location doesn't exist? Please do add a link to your Space:Weston Name Study (looking good BTW!).

Oh - and I let you slide on "United States of America, Weston Name Study", but the format the project advises is United States, Your Name Study. Ditto with "New York, USA, Weston Name Study" - if you'd be ok dropping the USA, that would be better (see https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:New_York%2C_Name_Studies & let me know... no New York, Vxxx Name Study categories yet, but when there are, that will put Weston out of order alphabetically.

Cheers, Liz
oops. Shouldn't have let you slide on "United States of America, Weston Name Study". Puts you way out of order alphabetically. I need to go offline for a bit. I'll take care of it & New York, USA later today.  Cheers, Liz

I joined the Kelly One Name Study.

{{One Name Study|name=Kelly}}

Welcome Melissa!

And Welcome to anyone else I missed saying that to... It's been a crazy few days trying to fill Maggie's shoes!

Let me know if I missed doing something or if you have any questions.

Cheers, Liz
I am a ONS of the Surnames Belcher, Los and Youle
Hi Maria! I see Jamie awarded you a badge. Welcome to the project!
Thanks Liz, still cannot see it, hopefully it will appear soon. I do have the "One Place Study" though. Maria
Lotspeich Name Study is red in  Template
Robert - you should be good to go now. If it's still showing up red, refresh the page.

Cheers, Liz

Sorry! I must've been having a senior moment & missed that it was the One Place Study badge, not the One Name Studies badge. I'll go fix that right now!  Thanks for letting me know.

Cheers, Liz

update: And it looks like Maggie's vacation is still on rain delay :D  You should be all set.

Thanks Liz

update: still no vacation yet, Liz. Rain, rain, rain so I will be here after 5 pm.

Hi there! I started a one name study for Schott.
Hi Julie! Welcome to the project :D
I would like to join the Washington ONS. Am apparently related to George Washington through my Lightfoot line.
Hello!

I've decided to make a Lapish One Name Study - I'm hping ti may help me break through a brick wall I'm having with my "Lapish" branch, as I have not been able to get beyond my 3xgreat grandfather on this line.

Here is the link to the new project page:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Lapish_Name_Study

Kristen, you are set to go now on your Lapish One Name Study.

I have created 2 One Name Study's.  One is for Bowman

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Bowman_Name_Study-1

And the other is for Mayes, Mays, Maze

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Mayes_Name_Study

Thanks,

Mary

How do I join the One Name Studies Project? Several of my surnames are listed: Butler, Gibson, Richardson, Silver, Spencer. Thanks!

Got your ONS badge on, Patty.

Thank you!
Hi, I am a part of the One Name Project for Dyess and just started a One Name Project for Ennis and will be starting one for Rish after I write this.
I have joined the Fine - One Name Project.  Still trying to figure everything out.

I like to Join the {{One Name Study|name=Hall}} project I added some already. I do have question can the project clean up profiles? Hall-29211 And Hall-784 are duplicates I emailed the people but it hasn't been fixed just thought I check with you all to see if fixing profiles allowed.

Billie

Hi Billie! I proposed the merge and posted a message on your profile. Cheers, Liz
Liz,

I added this to that Hall profile you merged.

https://hackerscreek.com/norman/CONNOLLY.htm

I also Emailed the manager on her profile stating if this the Hall lady that married father and son then the marriage dates need to be changed but looked like same person. I request for merging was denied and the sister of her Elizabeth B Connolly has a duplicate but since was posting the Hall name tag thought I let room know about it. I don't know what else I can do.

Billie

thanks - that link may be the source of the problem:

Children of George and Sallie (Morris) Connolly.

  1. William Morris          b.Aug  8 1792
  2. Molly Ann Jenkins       b.Aug 29 1794
  3. Nancy                   b.       1790
m.Elisha Hall Jr. Jul 24 1806 Harrison County VA
    m.Elijah Hall    Aug 3 1818
  4. - 12, then

       13. Elizabeth B.            b.       1818
             m.Elijah Hall Jr.

No sources mentioned except pension application S16734, which does not include any mention of Nancy, Elizabeth, or either Elijah/Elisha Hall. George's DAR record also doesn't include Nancy or Elizabeth (doesn't mean he didn't have daughters by that name, just that no one descended from them have joined the DAR based on their relationship to George via Nancy or Elizabeth).

Can you put DAR information for George Coleman Connolly in I think I put military tag on that profile was going to look up stuff on him. I knew he was military by memory. He was also a Doctor and teacher. But I got to dig the information. I will help as much as can to get the mess straightened out. And provide more for profiles as can.

Billie

I stumbled upon Category: X Name Study, the "change this category" name on the One Name Studies page template. It's a rather large category -- apparently many people are not understanding the instructions. I moved the Cozart One-Name Study to its own category, but there are others. that would benefit from attention from project leadership.

Each surname has it own tag to place on people I assuming. I only did Hall here but may choose another name since most mine done and upset someone putting tag on second Hall line. So if choose another name it be best.

Billie

Hi Maggie, please can you add me to the One Name Studies Project? I've started a project for the Hendy family. Thank you! :-)

Hi, Could you add me to the One Name Project. I just started a One Name Project for Wightman.
I have joined a one name Project. I called it Hawthorn, Hawthorne. I then found out that this is incorrect.

I then find that Manny Hawthorne has a Hawthorne Project going. I sent him an e-mail. I have been gathering all information for Hawthorn & Hawthorne for quite some time now and I am in the process of sorting it all out and adding to WikiTree.. I have all the information since registration began in Ireland and some before this.

Could you guide me as to what I do next.

Regards - Derek

I imagine that Manny Hawthorne will be happy to have your participation in the one-name study that he started, Derek. It looks like he hasn't gotten very far off the ground with it yet -- and from his activity log I infer that he may be on holiday. We collaborate at WikiTree, so this single name study should include everyone who's interested in focused study of this family name.

Because there are a number of variant spellings of the name, your intention of including Hawthorn in this study seems very appropriate. It seems to me that other spellings, such as Hathorn and Hathorne, also ought to be included. The Hawthorne name study page can accommodate three tags, only one of which is currently in use, so it might be a good idea for you to be bold and insert a couple of variants. (If he's bothered by that, your changes can always be reversed.)

It's likely that the name has multiple origins, so it may be desirable to document different lineages of the name. If you have a good story to tell about your Hawthorne line, you might want to create a free-space page to tell it -- and add your page to the Hawthorne Name Study category. You could also categorize the profiles of your Hawthorne family members.

Derek, I awarded you your Name Study badge. I will merge the two Hawthorne Name Study pages together. No problem (-:

p.s. Make sure to add me to the Name Study space page as a manager so I can merge the.

Just add LUDLOW to this project.
I have just created the Leahy Name Study Project.
Hi Maggie,
I have started the Overmars name study, and I like to join the project

Thanks Herman
Maggie,

I started the Fritz name study a year a while ago then was out going to school.  I want to get active on it again.  I see that we have over 1200 Fritz profiles on the tree.  I would gladly work with someone else in developing the project as I haven't gotten very far with it.  Perhaps this will entice more Fritz profiles to join the one name study!

I was never issued a badge for the one name study.  I need to mentally go back to square one and catch up on what I need to do.

Taylor

Hello,

I am trying to join the Holmes One Name Study.  It is unlocked and I have contacted the study manager but he didn't know how to join me.  Can you give me direction.  I think I need the ONS badge and then I add some script to my profile like the following: {{One Name Study|name=Holmes}}. Do I put this in my bio section?  Is there anything else I need to know?

Thanks,

Ryan Holmes

Hi Maggie, can you add me for the Badge, iam doing thr Overmars name study
You are all set, Herman, for Overmars study.
Thank you Maggie :)

I have taken my first steps towards adding some of the profiles I manage into One Name Studies today. I am interested in starting two studies:

  • Crackett (variants include Cracket, Craket)
  • Stavers
by Lynda Crackett G2G6 Pilot (674k points)
I have now done the initial set-up for both of these. Could you please take a look and see if I have got it right Maggie?

Lynda ... I only did a redirect to the Crackett project page from https://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/Crackett Do you want to have the surnames Cracket and Craket go to https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Crackett_Name_Study also?

I just created the Boulet Name Study project.

It's URL is https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Boulet_Name_Study but the URL in the weekly "WikiTree Family News" email that told me about this effort sends me to the URL https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Boulet when I click on the link within that email which is supposed to tell me if a Boulet Name Study project already exists.

The mismatch between that actual project name t is likely to be a source of considerable confusion. Then again, maybe I did something wrong (sigh).
by Daniel Boulet G2G2 (2.7k points)

Hi! You did everything perfectly, I'm just slow today. If you click https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Boulet now it'll take you to https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Boulet_Name_Study - I've caught up with my "to-do list" :D

I stared a Hughey One-Name Study and would like to start two more one name studies:

Havel family

Taborsky family

My uncle Frank Taborsky did a lot of reseach in Czechoslovakia on both the Havel's and the Taborsky's, both of Bohemian origin.  I need a lot of help connecting my disjointed families together.  My uncle's research has not been completed or followed through.
