Shared Photo: Laverne O'Leary with her first child Edmond O'Leary

I wanted to share this family photo of my wife's grandmother, Laverne O'Leary and her first child Edmond with the community. In 1923 Laverne had just turned 18 and baby Edmond was one year old. The dairy ranchers in the Eel River Valley were producing sweet cream and butter for the finest restaurants in San Francisco, 280 miles to the south. Laverne and her husband, Arthur  were prospering. Little Edmond would spend his entire life at the family ranch, except for a three year stint during WWII as a pilot in the Army Air Corps in Europe.

Location: Cannibal Island Road, Loleta California. Date: 1923.

Without even looking back at the other pic of Edmund you recently posted, I could see the resemblance.

Bart, you have a treasure trove of wonderful photos. I hope you’ll keep on sharing!

Sorry Grandma Laverne, you are so pretty and with everything so lovely, you are out done by Edmond. Babies always are the cutest in the photos. We need all the grandmothers in WT but Edmond steals the show. Thank you for showing us the picture.

Wonderful photo, I love the happy looks of both mom and child.  And they are so well dressed.  I love what Edmond is wearing, though his sweater looks like it may fit him for a few years to come.  Perhaps Blanche has worn it as well?  I do love Lavern's hat and i also think she is wearing a raccoon stole, which would mean they are indeed prospering.   Very beautiful photo, thank you for sharing.
