Question

I wanted to share this family photo of Michael Triesch and his great grandfather Arthur O'Leary with the community. Immigrants from Ireland,  William and Bridget O'Leary homesteaded in the Eel River Valley in far Northern California in the 1870's. Four generations of  the O'Leary family then operated a dairy ranch on Cannibal Island Road for over 100 years. In this photo, Mike is enjoying a tractor ride with his great-grandfather.

Location: Loleta California. Date: 1977.

Farmall A, no hydraulics that makes it a 1939 to 1947.

Thanks for your kind comment Emma. I had the pleasure of knowing Art O'Leary. He was my wife's grandfather and we spent time every year at the O'Leary ranch. I was a city boy but I quickly learned about dairy ranching and all the hard work it takes to get milk products to the market. Art was kind and generous. He had a wry, Yankee manner and mostly said, "Yep."
