G2G: Shared Photo: Arthur O'Leary at age 21

Question

I wanted to share this family photo of Arthur O'Leary with the community. Arthur was my wife's grandfather and this photo was taken on his wedding day. Art was a 3rd generation dairy rancher in the Eel River Valley in the far northwest corner of California.

Location: Ferndale California   Date: 1921.

What a god looking man Arthur is, bet his wife was proud of him by her side at the wedding.

Thanks Susan. And Arthur's wife was just 16 when they were married! They lived a long and prosperous life together and had three children, including my wife's mom..

Yupper - what a dapper young man.  But what is happening with the tie?  He would be mortified to see that is it sitting somewhat a skewed, unless that is the fashion of the day?

Well, he was a dairy rancher and probably didn't dress up very often. And he lived in a very rural place. But I just don't know about the tie. In the last 2 years of his life he wore the same shirt everyday!

Now that is a good looking man there.  Love the hat,  the suit and  . . . what is going on with the tie?

Was this Arthur's 21st birthday? I don't want to insinuate that Arthur was drinking, but something is really going on with this tie.  I have never seen a tie look quite like this.

Or maybe Arthur was trying to start a new trend that just didn't take.

Whatever is happening -  it can't take away from what a good looking man he is.
