What constitutes "a connection to the LDS Church"?

I have error messages on my Suggestions, which say "ProjectBox Without Project Account," on the following LDS connected accounts:

Sorensen-3052

Jensen-9237

Walker-42176

Walker-42185

Walker-42185

The first two are among LDS Pioneers who migrated from Denmark to Utah circa 1850. (I have at least one forebear who was an LDS Pioneer born in Sweden.)

The Walkers were Mormons who attended the same chapel I did.

Is it enough to simply have been a member of the LDS Church to have the LDS sticker on your Profile?

I apostatized, but served an LDS Mission. Shouldn't I have an LDS sticker, too? How about my father, who served and LDS Mission in Australia, and my mother, who served an LDS Mission in Salt Lake City, and is first cousin to Donna Smith Packer?

The template code {{LDS}} is the project box and requires project management when it appears on a profile.

The template code {{LDS Pioneers}} is the sticker, which is what you should use for qualifying profiles if you don't think those profiles need project management.

For profiles that don't qualify for the pioneers sticker, you can adapt the {{Occupation}} template to fit your needs. You will need to find an appropriate image if you use this template (other WikiTreers may have such an image in use).

edit: Alternately, you could request that a basic LDS sticker be created:

Help:Stickers#Creation_and_Editing .

Wouldn't this fall under the religion sticker template, rather than occupation?

And couldn't the existing LDS image be used?
A "basic LDS sticker" stating that "This person has a connection to the LDS Church" has already been created and IS the source of my question/problem. This is too vague; all the animals (birds, reptiles, amphibians, and mammals) in my yard have a connection to the LDS Church:  They live on the same planet where the LDS Church was founded.

Thank you for the tip about the {{LDS Pioneers}} sticker. I've already started adding it to my LDS Pioneer forebears' Profiles.

reply to Melanie:

Yes, I forgot we added the Religion sticker so we could stop using the Occupation sticker as a Religion sticker (you really don't want to know!).

reply to William:

As I said, the LDS template is a project box, not a sticker. The project box is used to indicate project management. You are receiving the suggestion because the profiles have the project box but aren't managed by the project.

By basic sticker, I mean one that simply states that the profiled individual was/is an LDS member.

Hi William

I think you and I chatted briefly about this before.  I've not been focused on my LDS research as of late, as I've been busy with another project, but it is something I agree should be discussed with the Project Leaders.  Perhaps you would like to initiate that?
Don't LDS Project Leaders get G2G traffic tagged "LDS"?
Just to clarify, we shouldn't be tweaking the Occupation template to fit our needs. It should be used for occupations, not anything else.

And William, Amy and I had talked about starting up a team under the LDS project for LDS Pioneers who came over from Europe. It just hasn't happened yet.
Let's do it! I'd like to be one of the Project Managers.
Back to my original quedtion, Ms. Langholf: What constitutes "a connection to the LDS Church"? Better yet, would you please change the LDS Project Box' wording to something less vague? From what Ros Haywood says, it sounds like it should say, "This Profile is managed by the LDS Project."

It seems that the only LDS sticker is the one for LDS Pioneers. So you would not qualify.

Not helpful!

If the only LDS sticker is for LDS Pioneers, then it needs to say "This person was an LDS Pioneer" rather than anything as vague as "This person has a connection to the LDS Church."

It says "... was a Latter Day Saint pioneer".  The one that says "This person has a connection to the LDS Church" is not a sticker.  It is a Project Box, where the LDS Project is the Profile Manager.  I'm sure you wouldn't want a Project to manage your own profile, would you?

I wouldn't mind if a Project managed my Profiles - especially not if I were one of the Project Managers in charge of my Profiles.

I probably should be an LDS Project Manager. I was Born in the Covenant, in Utah; I'm a son of LDS Pioneers; Joseph Smith's grandson; Joseph Fielding Smith, sealed my parents in the Salt Lake Temple; one of my second cousins is Donna Smith Packer, whose late husband came within a heartbeat  of becoming the President of the LDS Church; and I write Bios and Research Notes with sources as well as anyone else on WikiTree.

William, THIS PAGE explains about the LDS project, the sub-project, the leadership, etc. What is says about the LDS Pioneers is:

"LDS Pioneers: This project covers the migrating Mormon pioneers who traveled from New England States, New York State and other eastern regions in a wagon train migration which began about 1846. This project is about the profiles on WikiTree of these particular Mormon pioneers who eventually settled in the Great Salt Lake plains of Utah. This pioneer era is generally considered to have ended with the 1869 arrival of the transcontinental railroad."

This would mean your Danish and Swedish ancestors would not qualify for this project box. I would suggest you contact the leadership to ask what you need to do to correct your errors and to correctly designate your ancestors who are affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

No need to yell...my advice remains the same. If the page describing the projects and sub-projects was not helpful, you should contact the LDS project leaders who will guide you in resolving any errors and correctly designating your ancestors.
William, I apologize. My post came across wrong to you and that was not my intention. I was trying to help you figure out why you were getting the error message you wrote about and help you find a solution. I was in no way belittling your ancestors or suggesting you were not knowledgeable. They are certainly worthy of recognition. I hope you figure out the correct way here on WikiTree to bestow that recognition so that you no longer get the error messages.
Apology accepted!
People from Denmark and Sweden that were part of a Mormon pioneer company definitely qualify as LDS Pioneers.

There is also a sticker for early LDS members (joined in the period 1830 to 1848). See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Template:Early_LDS and https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Early_LDS_Adherents for more info. Use the code {{Early LDS}} to put it on a profile.

Many of the people whose profiles display this sticker died too soon to make the journey west with the LDS Pioneers.
