Biography

Hermann (Corkum) Gorkum died young.

Hermann was born June 27, 1751 and baptized July 2nd according to Reformed Church of Westhofen baptism records.[1]

His family emigrated from Germany to Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1752 aboard the "Pearl". His name appears in the Halifax victualing lists for 1752 and 1753 however at the muster of April 14, 1753, Capt. John Steignfort reports that he has died.[2] It's uncertain when he actually died as that is the date the death was reported.

His surname would have been Gorkum. The Corkum spelling did not happen until early 1800's so he would never have been known by that name.
