Biography
Joshua Hewes was born about 1612 in London, based on Nov 1670 deposition where he claimed to be 59. He was the brother of Elizabeth Hewes who m. Ralph Hemingway/Hemenway, and also brother of --- who married Richard Gorde. Others have Elizabeth's parents as John Hewes and Mary Foote, but this needs confirmation. (Joshua did have many engagements with one Joshua Foote.)

He emigrated in 1633 settling initially (as a single man) in Roxbury, Boston 1650, Wickford 1663, Boston 1669. He was a merchant and ironmonger.
He m1 in Roxbury 8 Oct 1634 Mary Goldstone,[1] dau of Henry Goldstone of Watertown. She d. at Boston 23 Aug 1655 [BVR 52].
He m2 in Boston 11 Feb 1656/7 Alice (____) Crabtree, widow of John Crabtree [BVR 58]; d. aft 25 Apr 1676 (when she administered his estate).
He d. in Boston 25 Jan 1675/6, aged 66.
Administration on the estate of Joshua Hewes was granted 25 Apr 1676 to his widow, Alice Hewes [SPR 5:337]. The inventory of the estate of Lt. Joshua Hewes was taken 26 Feb 1675/6...

Hewes-304 and Hewes-72 appear to represent the same person because: I don't know how I missed your Hewes-72 when I created -304, but based on my knowledge of your connections ( with Mary Foote, etc) they are the same person.
