Biography

Born 6 OCT 1724. Kraichgau ?. [1] Merged profile gave date as Oct. 24.

Buried 4 FEB 1801. St. Paul’s Methodist Episcopal Church.
Her tombstone shows her name as Maria Eva.

Eva Maria KISTLER was born at the right time to have been a child of immigrant Hans KISTLER and sibling to Jürg KISTLER of Greenwich Twp, Berks Co, PA (ca1721-ca1783 and his brothers, but they are said to have come from the Auerbach over near the Rhein in Baden (near Karlsbad), rather than from the Kraichgau.

Eva may instead be a descendant of the Hans KISTLER ‘aus dem Berner Gebiet’ who emigrated 1652 with wife and 3 children to Richen near Sinsheim in the Kraichgau. In 1654 he was recorded a ‘Wildfänge’, married to an Anna, with 6 children. They had children born 1655-1661 in Richen. Their son Hans married Katharina HEUBERGER who had children 1667-1675 in Richen. [State Archives Mosbach XI, Landesarchive Karlsruhe].

Eva Maria and Paul GEIGER had a child bapt at New Hanover Lutheran Church in 1756. Reportedly had 4 sons, 5 daughters.

Widow Mary Eve GEIGER, widow of Paul GEIGER of Robeson, her will written 23 June 1800, probate 18 May 1801. To dau. Elizabeth PENTR, £15. To dau. Jane AMANS, £25. Clothes to be divided among the 4 girls. Son Paul GEIGER, executor.[2]

Maria Eva Kiestler is presumed to have been born on October 26, 1724, in Germany -- date from gravestone transcription.

Circa 1749, presumably in Germany, Maria Eva married Johann Paulus Geiger. Marriage record is dated 29 April 1749 in Richen, Eppingen, which fits with the theory that she descends from Hans KISTLER ‘aus dem Berner Gebiet’ who migrated to Richen. Maria Eva's father is Jacob Kistlers (likely forname is Hans). Since this is a translation and not an original image, it is possible that it still reflects a mistranslation of the name.[3]

The name on the tombstone looks like Kistlern. The -n suffix is the feminine, meaning the root name is Kistler. Some of the spelling variations may simply reflect different German dialects. On her husband's tombstone, her maiden name is given as Kiestlern, root name Kiestler, so there is inconsistency even there.

I located a marriage record for Maria Eva and Paul Geiger. Her father is Jacob Kistlers. https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QPD2-CHXN It would be nice to locate an original image to confirm the spelling. I did attach the source on the profile. I also removed the duplicate FamilySearch profile and left only the merged source.

Kiestler-1 and Kistler-359 appear to represent the same person because: Kiestler does not appear to be proper German spelling

Kiestler-1 is clearly intended to represent the same person -- same gravestone, same dates on gravestone. The differences are different theories on the origins and parents.

I see that her grave marker gives her date of birth as 26 October 1724, so you don't need to say she was presumed to have been born that day -- the date is certain (and should be indicated to come from the grave marker), but it's only the "Germany" part that is presumed. Also, her date of death is on the grave marker, so it should not be indicated to be "presumed." The grave marker includes her birth name, and the findagrave memorial indicates it to be Kiestler; it's hard to read on the image, but to me it kind of looks like Tristlern. I hope the findagrave memorial was created by someone who saw the grave, but that's not always the case. Is there a better image somewhere?
