Occupation: Sheriff of Stafford County, Virginia, 1777-1779; Captain of the Virginia Militia in the American Revolution, and later was a Colonel of Militia[9][10][11]
Elijah Married Mary Bronaugh about 1770, daughter of David Bronaugh of King George County, Virginia. They moved to Stafford County, Virginia owning land on Aquia Creek[14], and also some land he had acquired by intermarriage with Mary Bronaugh. In 1792, he was a trustee of Woodstock, Virginia. In 1781, he was Captain of the Virginia Militia in the Revolution. Elijah's father's name was ... Christopher in Virginia, 1695."
"Shortly after Elijah’s brothers went to Kentucky, there appeared in the same counties the following men, Aaron, Gabriel, and another Moses Threlkeld, all of whom married in Mercer or adjacent counties of Kentucky. It is reasonable to believe these were sons of Elijah Threlkeld and Mary Bronaugh, and that they went with or joined their uncles and cousins in the new country."[15]
"At Alexandria, Virginia, which is near Stafford County, Virginia, the home of Elijah and Mary, above, there was an Elijah Threlkeld, an oldest son, born Feb. 13, 1793[16], who had brothers, John, George, James, and Andrew, and a sister, Catherine. It is considered more than probable that these were grandchildren of Elijah and Mary, and children of Elijah, probably the oldest son of Elijah and Mary, and that he settled in Alexandria. This has been assumed to be a fact in tracing these families."[17]
↑ Note: Please note the birth of this Elijah is some 20 years after Elijah and Mary were wed, so he may well be a grandson, together with this that follow herein
