Biography

Nathan Snow was born on November 11, 1743, in Harwich (now Brewster), Barnstable Co., Province of Massachusetts Bay, New England. He was the son of Joseph Snow, b: September 14, 1718, in Harwich (Brewster), Barnstable County, Massachusetts Bay, New England, and Joseph's wife, Mary (Sears) Snow, b: 9 Aug 1718 in Harwich, Massachusetts Bay province, New England. His paternal Snow lineage was: he was the son of Joseph, who was a son of Edward, who was a son of Jabez Snow, who was the youngest son of Nicholas Snow and Mayflower passenger, Constance (Hopkins) Snow.[1]

When he was a very young man in his teens, Nathan Snow met and married Mary "Polly" Horn who was born ca. 1736 in Eastham, Barnstable, Massachusetts. They married in about 1759. They had twelve children. The first 3 were born in Eastham Mass.; the others were born in Nova Scotia, showing the family emigrated north in 1763. British documents show that Nathan and Joshua Snow were among the 10 colonists from Cape Cod, Massachusetts Bay, who actually arrived in Barrington, Nova Scotia, in July 1762; the rest of the family followed the following year.[2]

Nathan Snow was a Barrington Land Grantee; he helped settle Port Latour, Shelbourne County, Nova Scotia.

Nathan Snow died on October 24, 1814, in Barrington, Shelbourne County, Nova Scotia, British Maritime Provinces (became Canada in 1867). He is buried next to his wife, Mary (Horn) Snow, at the Barrington River Cemetery, Barrington, Nova Scotia, Canada. Mary died a month after her husband's passing.[3]

Mayflower Families Through Five Generations - Volume Six, 2nd Edition of the Silver Book for Stephen Hopkins states Nathan's ancestry as: Nathan, Benjamin, Benjamin, Joseph and Constance. It states he was born Oct 22, 1732. The younger Benjamin died before his father. The older Benjamin mentioned his grandson Nathan, son of Benjamin, deceased, in his will dated 1747/48. States he married Mary "Polly" and went to Barrington NS.

Could you please post more information about Seth Snow and his father Nathan. Although I originally rejected a merge of two Seth Snow profiles, I now believe they are the same and need to verify.
