| David Graham was a prominent member of a Scottish Clan. Join: Scotland Project Discuss: Scotland |
David was born circa 1185.[1] He was the eldest son of Sir David Graham [2]
This was the Sir David who got several charters during the reign of Alexander II. He received 2 from Patrick, Earl of Dunbar and separately from him the lands of Dundaff and Strathcarron in exchange for some land he owned in Galloway.
His son and successor was Sir David Graham also Laird Of Dundaff, b: ABT 1210 in Dundaff Castle, Stirlingshire, Scotland[3]
He had charters of Dundaff and Strathcarron.
In 1244 he was a guarantor of an Anglo-Scots treaty. He must therefore have died after that year.[4]
He married Agnes. Some gedcoms at Ancestry.com say Agnes Noble.
There seems to be a conflict among a number of authors as to the identity of leading members of the Graham family from the reign of Alexander II through to that of Robert the Bruce. Some of the marriages etc detailed in the People of Mediaeval Scotland simply defy logic so I have taken the family and listed it generation by generation as detailed by Sir Robert Douglas in his Peerage of Scotland published in 1764.
