Hi Tommie, You are now a member of the WikiTree Community - We are building One Collaborative Tree, with just one profile per person, so it is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add Profiles to WikiTree.
"Sources are critically important for genealogy. Some even say that genealogy without sources is mythology. Even if you're just a casual family historian recording modern family history, you will be helping future genealogists by listing where the information you've added came from."
If you have pre-1700's ancestors to add, please read our Pre-1700 profiles info. Please, be sure to include a list of the sources used, on each profile you add.
If you need any help getting started check out the Help Index or the G2G forum - Good luck growing your branches, Patt
My father did genealogy for many years on an old DOS computer. When the DOS computer died one day, he asked me to help him. I am an Electrical Engineer and I took his old disk drive and found the .ged file. This was many years ago, so I created a perl driven web site so that he could continue to enter the data. He died in 2009 and I retired in Nov 2014. So I am still working on this old database. I am thinking I should move this to Wiki, because when I die, nobody will be able to maintain my perl code and it will die. I agree the mission and read the 9 rules and will follow them.
My website got hacked by a ransom wear guy, so I closed it , rather than pay him. But I had moved most of the data to wiki-tree before that happened. Sorry I have not been very diligent in following up here !
