Hi!

Congratulations, you've been a WikiTree member for a month! We're glad you're here. A few tips to help you dive in even deeper:

Check out Beyond the Basics of WikiTree for a guide on some of our more advanced features such as Projects, Categories, and Merging.

We're very active on our social sites and we have an excellent blog where you'll find our monthly newsletter as well as tips, interviews with our members and guest posts from others in the genealogy community.

As always, I'm here to help if you have any questions!

Guy ~ WikiTree Mentor

Hi ,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hi!

How are you? I'm Shirley, a WikiTree Mentor. Hope you're enjoying our site.

How To Use WikiTree is a good starting point, and the Help Index is an important place to find out how to do most tasks.

If you have pre-1700's ancestors to add please read our Pre-1700 profiles info. Do you have Royal Ancestors? Rather than create duplicate profiles for them, please contact the EuroAristo Project to discuss connecting your family line to their profiles.

And I'm here to help too, just ask!

Shirley ~ WikiTree Mentor

Hello again

Welcome to the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add Profiles to WikiTree - if you have pre-1700's ancestors to add please read our Pre-1700 profiles info.

If you need any help getting started check out the help section from the menu, top right, or head over to the G2G forum and take a minute to introduce yourself in the Tree House. You might also want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created. We also have Mentors to help too.

Veronica

Thanks Melanie for the message you left on my page that you are planning on uploading a gedcom. Here's a link to a great article step-by-step of the process including screenshots that you might find helpful.

The help pages give lots of information about the process, best to start with 'Before you import a GEDCOM’, or our GEDCOM FAQ pages may come in handy.

Please ask if you need any help. I will go ahead and confirm you now

Veronica, Australia, Wikitree Volunteer

Hello Melanie

Fom your comment, it sounds like you might not need to volunteer. It's fine if you just want to search for relatives and family information. You are welcome to explore as a guest for as long as you would like. You will find the People Search under FIND in the menus, upper right of this page. You can also ask questions in the G2G forum.

Volunteering means you want to add family information to WikiTree. If you would like to add information to help grow one big tree, please post again to let us know. We'll be happy to confirm you as a member if you do.

Thanks, Veronica, Australia

I'm wanting to start the journey to find relatives in Denmark and other locations, or at least learn more about my great and great great grandparents.

Hi Melanie,

Welcome to WikiTree!

Please read our Honor Code to see what we're all about.

Next, explore the drop-down menus in the upper right corner.

As a guest, you can search for ancestors and participate in G2G, WikiTree’s forum.

If you would like to help with WikiTree's mission to grow a free worldwide tree, choose the "Volunteer" option, then post a comment on your profile about your interest in genealogy, and what you would like to add to the tree.

Let me know if you have questions.
