Sylvain "Petit Sylvain" Pothier was the son of Sylvain Pothier and Elizabeth LeBlanc.[1]
He was born May 30, 1797[1] in Tusket Wedge, Nova Scotia[2][3], and was baptised July 14, 1799 at Ste. Annes in Eel Brook, Nova Scotia.[1]
He grew up in the family home located at 2173 Hwy 334[4] in Tusket Wedge.[3]
He married Marie Madeleine Amirault, the daughter of Jacques Amirault and Venerante d'Entremont, on February 27, 1838 at St. Michael's[5] in Tusket Wedge.[3]
The couple settled into the home he had built along the northern stretch of the Main Road in Tusket Wedge[2][3] where they raised their family of 10 children[6]:
