Hi Mike, the US Civil War Project is conducting a Check-in for 2024 to see if your still interested/active in the Project.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you. You can click the reply button or message me with your answer. Thank you. Pam Kreutzer, leader of the US Civil War Project

Hi Mike, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a marvelous New Year.

The Annual US Civil War January Challenge is to connect US Civil War Soldiers for the January Connect-a-Thon. This year will be a twist of what I usually do. Instead of you choosing a "Surname Letter", you will be choosing from a block of soldiers whom I've already screened that show they have family to connect. Each soldier has a connection to one or more of his immediate family--parents, siblings, spouses, children, on their profile. Whether you work on one soldier or your whole block of soldiers, it's one step closer in our goal to connect each of our US Civil War Soldiers. The goal is to make sure all these soldiers are connected at least by one or two degrees. You can sign up now by clicking this link: US Civil War Sign-up Chart

Hi Mike, Thank you for participating in the March-April POW’s who Died in Andersonville Prison Challenge, there were 25 members who contributed to the Challenge. At the beginning of the challenge there were 137 Profiles created, we are now at 1,629 profiles.
Mike Conley created 23 soldier profiles in March-April 2023 US Civil War Project POW Died in Andersonville Prison Challenge.

In case you’d like to continue creating profiles for these soldiers we have a new space page https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:POW%27s_Who_Died_in_Andersonville_Prison whose purpose is to steadily create profiles for the 12,681 soldiers buried in Andersonville National Cemetery.

Thank you again for joining the Challenge.

Hi Mike, I've got a good source for you: Andersonville Records: http://www.civilwarprisoners.com/search.php?database=andersonville

A few tips: The stickers go under the =Biography= heading not in the sources section. Would you like to learn how to add categories? I've added them to the profiles you've created so the soldier will show up with their units, and in the cemetery they are buried in.

I do thank you for joining this challenge.

Hi Mike, I just wanted to thank you for all the work you've done to improve the US Civil War Between the States Project. I'm doing a check-in with all project members and wanted to verify that you're still interested in being a member of the project. Also, any suggestions for the Project would be welcome. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

P Kreutzer, US Civil War Between the States Project Leader.

I am still very interested in the project. If anyone has information about Andersonville Prison I continue to search for more insight into that place. My Great Grandfather was a pirsoner. He and 4 others from his company were captured at the same time. The other 4 records indicate that is where they were taken, his only says he was a prisoner. Have not yet been able to verify where he was taken. It only makes sense they took all 5 of them to the same place. So I keep searching.

Thanks for leading this project

Hi, I am Dorothy, a WikiTree mentor!! Are you enjoying your time on WikiTree so far?

Now that you have had a little time to try our site, there are a few more features you may find useful:

For instance, ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards; including some tips on writing biographies

Also a friendly reminder about adding sources and references to your profile. Sources are critically important for genealogy and you will be helping future genealogists by listing where the information you've added came from. This page describes different kinds of sources: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Sources

Hi Michael,

Welcome to WikiTree! The email we just sent has helpful links to get you started.

WikiTree is different than other genealogy websites because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we share ancestors and work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree?

When you confirm your email address, you’ll be given an opportunity to volunteer to help document our collective family history. Use the Tags and comments to tell us about your genealogical interests.

When you volunteer, one of our Greeters will confirm your membership. Then you'll be able to add your family to the tree!

We're really glad you're here!
