Heinrich I von Hessen byname 'das Kind' (b. 24 June 1244 - d. Marburg, 21 December 1308) was from 1263 the first Landgraf von Hessen. He belonged to the House of the Reiniers and after this was founder of the House of Hessen.
Son of hertog Hendrik II van Brabant and Sofia von Thüringen. In 1263 Heinrich married Adelheid van Braunschweig-Lüneburg (1244-1274), daughter of Herzog Otto 'das Kind'. After her death Heinrich in 1276 remarried Mechthild von Kleve.
After the death of Henry III, duke of Brabant, Heinrich vied for the guardianship of Brabant as uncle of the young children, but was thwarted by duchess Aleidis.[1] In 1279 Heinrich, landgrave of Hesse renounced all his rights on the duchy of Brabant in favour of Jan I, witnessed by his sisters Mathilde, countess of Artois and Saint-Pol, and Beatrix, lady of Kortrijk, and his nephews Robert, count of Artois, Jan of Hainaut and Henrik, lord of Herstal.[2]

Von Hessen-16 and Brabant-274 appear to represent the same person because: These are the same person. But I can't merge them fully because I am not on the Trusted Lists of Heinrich von Hessen (Von Hessen-16) and Heinrich I von Hessen (Brabant-274) .
Von Hessen-16 and Brabant-274 appear to represent the same person because: They are the same person, I don't understand why this was set as an unmerged match
Von Hessen-16 and Brabant-274 are not ready to be merged because: I confirm these are the same person. Henry I of Hessen's father was Henry of Brabant, and his mother was Sophie of Thuringia. He was the first Landgrave of Hessen.
Von Hessen-16 and Brabant-274 appear to represent the same person because: Same person - he was born into the Brabant family, became Landgraf von Hessen, later, so Brabant should be his Last Name at Birth (LNAB)
Heinrich appears under a funny name. It should be "von Hessen", his epithet is "das Kind (=the child") [see E.G. Franz: Das Haus Hessen, Stuttgart 2005: Stammtafel 1]. One of his children is Otto I. of Hessen, in Wikitree as UNKNOWN-83423. Since I have no Pre-1500 badge yet, I can not edit these profiles.
